Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot has announced that multiple Assassin’s Creed remakes are on the way. In an interview on the Ubisoft website, Guillemot revealed that players can expect to see multiple remakes over the coming years. “Firstly, players can be excited about some remakes, which will allow us to revisit some of the games we’ve created in the past and modernize them,” he said.

“There are worlds in some of our older Assassin’s Creed games that are still extremely rich. Secondly, to answer your question, there will be plenty of experience variety. The goal is to have Assassin’s Creed games come out more regularly, but not for it to be the same experience every year.”

Guillemot then touched on what players can expect in the more immediate future as Assassin’s Creed Shadows is set to hit stores later this year, as well as a new game currently codenamed ‘Hexe’ that is also in development. “There are a lot of good things to come, including Assassin’s Creed Hexe, which we’ve announced, which is going to be a very different game from Assassin’s Creed Shadows. We’re going to surprise people, I think,” he said.

Although multiple remakes are on the way, don’t expect them to be released in the immediate future. A 2023 leak revealed that the much-awaited Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag remake was still in the early stages of development, and is being created by Ubisoft Singapore. This studio has a long history with the series, often playing a supporting role in the development of titles including Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Syndicate, and Origins. Ubisoft Singapore is also the studio behind Skull and Bones.

Guillemot also highlighted the potential that AI could have on the future of game development, noting that technology “is evolving at such a pace that there are limitless possibilities for evolution,” and how utilizing AI “can enrich NPCs to be more intelligent, more interactive.”
