We may have a release date for Ubisoft’s upcoming new entry in its long running series – Assassin’s Creed Mirage if Japanese retailer listings are to be believed..

As spotted by Gematsu on Twitter, several Japanese retailers – including their local arm of Amazon – have all listed the game for the same date of October 12, despite no release date yet being set by Ubisoft. While normally this could be explained away as a placeholder date, as the tweet points out – these aren’t really as much of a thing for Japanese retailers, as they don’t often list the date until it has been made official.

The new Assassin’s Creed game was first revealed last September, and promises to be a return to the smaller scale Assassin’s Creed adventures made famous by the first few entries in the long running series. Playing as Basim – a character first introduced in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla – we’ll be running around the streets of Baghdad in this prequel adventure, with a much heavier focus on parkour. It’ll be the first tentative step into the upcoming Assassin’s Creed Infinity project, which will link together the next few entries in the series including the larger scale Codename Red.

It’s not the first time we’ve heard of the October 12 date either. Earlier this month, that date – along with a few other gameplay details – were leaked by a French YouTuber, although Ubisoft hadn’t confirmed or denied any of the information at the time of writing. The next big showing of the game is expected to come during an Ubisoft Forward event, which has been scheduled for June 12, 2023 and will take place live from LA. Presumably then, we’ll get a date for Assassin’s Creed Mirage then – and potentially more on what lies beyond for the Assassin’s Creed series as a whole.
