Ubisoft has formally confirmed that the next Assassin’s Creed game will indeed be Assassin’s Creed Mirage, following the leak of official art earlier today.

The company didn’t say too much about the new game, only to officially publish the art and confirm the name. However, it did promise to show more during next week’s Ubisoft Forward event on September 10.

The image was originally posted on social media earlier today by fansite The Codex Network. However, it was later taken down thanks to a copyright claim by Ubisoft before the latter uploaded it to the AC official account.

Interestingly, the image seems to imply that we’ll be going back to a Middle-Eastern setting with this game. It’d mark the first visit to the region since the the first game. (Apart from a few brief stops during the Ezio trilogy.)

Moreover, rumours have been swirling since February that a new Assassin’s Creed game would take place in Baghdad. According to a Bloomberg report, the game could also star Assassin’s Creed Valhalla character Basim, telling the story of his life prior to meeting Eivor.

Intriguingly, Bloomberg’s report also claimed the game may “focus more on stealth gameplay” than the open world epics of recent AC games.

We don’t have to wait too long to find out. The Ubisoft Forward introducing Assassin’s Creed Mirage will take place on Saturday, September 10 at 9pm CEST/12PM PT – that’s 8pm UK time.
