Assassin’s Creed Mirage has been confirmed as the next game in the long-running Ubisoft series.

Formally revealed at the September 2022 Ubisoft Forward event – the new game will be a return, of sorts, to the Assassin’s Creed of old. But aside from the game’s official announcement, a French content creator has now also leaked a few more key details on the upcoming installment.

With this in mind, let’s jam through everything revealed of the game so far.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage – release window

According to a leak from a French content creator named j0nathan, Assassin’s Creed Mirage is allegedly set for an October 12th release on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, PC, Google Stadia and Amazon Luna. If it does end up getting delayed, however, then the latest window that it will apparently be pushed back to is a November 2023 launch.

Unfortunately, Ubisoft is yet to confirm this particular date at the time of writing so you will still need to take it with a grain of salt. It’s being positioned as a smaller game, though, so it’s not likely to fall (or be as late as to land) in the traditional November slot.

However, we’ll have to wait for official statement before it’s narrowed down. We’d tentatively predict a release in the latter half of the year.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage – what is it?

Assassin’s Creed Mirage will tell the story of Basim, who we last met in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.

The story takes place some 20 years before the events of that game. We’ll find out how Basim went from a humble street thief, before being taken in by the Assassins Order we know and love.

During your adventure, you’ll meet Basim’s mentor – Roshan. She’s voiced by Emmy-award winning actress Shohreh Aghdashloo.

Of course, once more we’ll explore the ongoing conflict between The Hidden Ones and the Ancients, and hopefully we’ll see just how that morphed into the Assassins versus Templar battle of the earlier games.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage – where is it set?

Rather than the open-world country-spanning action of recent entries, Assassin’s Creed Mirage will have a focus on stealth and take place in one city: Baghdad.

The team say they’ve built the city as a kind of ‘parkour playground’ – with the team even adding back some classic parkour moves into Basim’s arsenal. They claim parkour will be faster,

In fact, Ubisoft has said the whole game will be something of a love letter to the first entry in the series, even showing how the hideout from the first game – Alamut – was built.

Stealth’s also set to be a big focus of the game. Ubisoft say they’ve reworked the enemy AI detection, and much of the level design will encourage stealthy play.
