Ubisoft's next Assassin's Creed game will apparently revolve around Vikings, according to a new report on Kotaku

The Viking setting originally started doing the rounds after folk spotted a teaser in Tom Clancy's The Division 2. The in-game poster features an image of a Norse god, the word Valhalla, and what appears to be an Apple of Eden in his hand. The latter is obviously an item long associated with the franchise, being an object wielded by the precursor race, aka Those Who Came Before.

While that's all interesting enough, Kotaku has now said that two independent sources have confirmed that 2020's Assassin's Creed game will indeed feature Vikings. That's about all is known right now, but it's definitely worth getting excited about.

Assassin's Creed is currently taking a break this year, presumably sipping cocktails where it's lovely and sunny. This isn't the first time, either; Ubisoft put the franchise on hold in 2016, and the result was the excellent Assassin's Creed Origins.

Let's hope they can cook up similar magic with next year's outing, eh?
