The update, which can be downloaded free of charge right now, will enable any XP Media Centre Edition 2005 PC users to stream digital music, videos, photos, and standard and high definition television and movies to any display in their home via an Xbox 360. This is made possible thanks to the inbuilt Media Centre Extender Technology of the Xbox 360.
“We introduced Windows XP Media Centre Edition three years ago with a vision to simplify the way people experience digital entertainment on their PC using something as familiar as a remote control,” said Will Poole, senior vice president of the Windows Client Business at Microsoft. “Now, Media Centre Edition and Xbox 360, together with offerings from hundreds of industry partners, are providing fantastic interactive entertainment experiences that can be experienced throughout the home.“
Users of a Media Centre PC can download the update now via Windows update.
