While a lot of The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom will be familiar to those who played the 2017 smash hit The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild, there’s a handful of new features and collectables.

One such new addition are Bubbul Gems. So what are they and how do you get them? Here’s everything you need to know about Bubbul Gems in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom. To help you track them down, make sure you’ve unlocked all the Tears of the Kingdom stable locations across Hyrule.

What are Bubbul Gems in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom?

Bubbul Gems originate from Bubbulfrogs, which can be found in the many caves in Tears of the Kingdom. According to the game, a Bubbul Gem ‘is a strange crystal left by defeated Bubbulfrogs in caves. Its eerie blue glow may entice you to… collect even more…”

You’ll know when you spot a Bubbulfrog, because they are luminous and tend to stuck on walls in caves. To get the Bubbul Gem, you’re going to need to take it out. Using your bow is the easiest and most efficient way – they only take a couple of hits.

This will trigger a death animation, and the it’ll drop the item. As we’ll come on to in a minute, Bubbul Gems can be traded for special gear.

Where can I find Bubbul gems In Tears of the Kingdom?

Bubbul Gems are found in caves in Tears of the Kingdom. One such cave, can be found behind the Woodland Stable in Eldin Canyon. Here, you’ll meet Kilton and his brother Koltin, the latter of which wants to use Bubbel Gems to transform into a creature called a Satori, otherwise known as the Lord of the Mountain. In the last game, it was one off the fastest mounts, and had an infinite stamina gauge. Once you’ve chatted with the two brothers, head into the cave and you’ll come across the first Bubbulfrog – and your first chance to get a Bubbul gem. Once you have a gem, go back and feed it to Kolton and you’ll get a Bokoblin Mask, which you can equip to blend in with Bokoblins.

He tells you he’ll need some more and that you can find him in Tarrey Town. Wait until nightfall, then head over to one of the hill tops north of Tarrey Town, and east of the Ulri Mountain Skyview Tower.

From then on, he’ll tell reward you with various monster parts and masks – depending on how many Bubbul Gems you can find. We’ll be keeping this updated with other Bubbul Gem locations we find during our playthrough.
