Where to find Woodskip in Stardew Valley

The Woodskip in Stardew Valley spawns in the fish pond in the Secret Woods. This happens regardless of season. The Secret Woods can be found by the northwest corner of Cindersap Forest and northwest of the Wizard Tower, but you have to have a Steel Axe to break hardwood to get into it. It also spawns at the Forest Farm, but it’s far more infrequent there. The time of day doesn’t matter, but it is better to do it on non-rainy days.

As for how to catch a Woodskip, it’s the same as any fish. When the meter comes up after dropping your fishing rod, make sure you keep the fish within the bar until it is fully caught, otherwise it will escape and you’ll have to wait to catch something again.

Spawn rates for Woodskip

The Woodskip is much more common in the Secret Woods pond, having a 15% to 27% chance of each cast hooking one. This depends on your fishing skill. At the Forest Farm, it has a 0% to 17.5% chance, but this is depending on your luck of the day. Check your luck before leaving your farm to make sure it’s even worth a shot, but it would be wise to head to the Secret Woods if you’ve unlocked that section. You may also use bait on the fishing rod, made of bug meat, to help your chances a little bit. However, it’s not a hard one to catch. Within three casts, we found one ourselves.

Zach’s Tips

Woodskips are one of the easiest fish to obtain in Stardew Valley. The reason being, they are always available. It can be so frustrating to find out you need a certain fish and it only spawns in spring. That’s difficult if you’re in summer, but Woodskips aren’t restricted by season!

If you have the Forest Farm Layout, you can catch them in the pond that is already present on your farm. To have an almost never-ending supply of Woodskips in Stardew, you can place them in a fish pond on your farm. They will reproduce every two days, but that does require you to increase pond capacity by completing four quests.

Ironically, some of those quests involve Woodskip fish themselves. Lingcod, Pike, or Dorado may request them from you, and it’s a way to increase the pond capacity, so it’s worth doing.

Uses for Stardew Valley Woodskip

A common use of the Woodskip is in the Specialty Fishing Bundle in the Community Center’s Fish Tank, which is part of the rebuild project you undergo in Pelican Town. It goes with Ghostfish, Sandfish, and Pufferfish. It is also a good item to cook in recipes.

Maki Rolls require any fish, so the Woodskip will suffice, rice, and seaweed. This adds 100 stamina and 45 health. It can also be sold for 220 gold. Quality Fertilizer also uses any fish as well as sap. Finally, Sashimi requires any fish and restores 75 stamina and 33 health.

You may also use the Woodskip in the spool of the Sewing Machine to create the Fishing Vest, which is a clothing item you can wear to gain a lot of pockets for tackle while fishing. It can also be used to dye things orange.

That’s everything you should know about the Stardew Valley Woodskip, but be sure to check out how to fix the missing executable error and whether or not it’s on Game Pass!
