Where is the Tiger Trout in Stardew Valley?
The Tiger Trout, a rare hybrid trout, spawns in the river, either in Pelican Town or Cindersap Forest. You can find it at the Riverlands Farm, Forest Farm, or Hill-Top Farm as well. You’ll only be able to catch it during Fall and Winter, but on any day during those seasons. However, we went to the Pelican Town river and caught one within two in-game hours.
If you can’t find it, it is sometimes available at Krobus’ Shop on Wednesdays for 200 gold. You may also be able to get it from the Traveling Cart for anywhere from 450 to 1,000 gold, but it is only there randomly. If you use Magic Bait, you can catch it anywhere and in any season.
How to catch Tiger Trout
To catch Tiger Trout, you must fish in the right locations. Once you hook something, you need to keep the fish within your meter until it’s done. Then you find out exactly what you caught. If it’s a Tiger Trout, great. If not, try again.
Stardew Valley Tiger Trout uses
A primary use of the Tiger Trout is as food. You can eat it by itself, but you can also use it in recipes. You can make Maki Rolls with any fish, so the Woodskip will work as well as rice and seaweed. This adds 100 stamina and 45 health. It can also be sold for 220 gold.
You can make Quality Fertilizer with any fish as well as sap. Finally, you can also make Sashimi with any fish and it gives 75 stamina and 33 health.
The best thing you can do with the Tiger Trout is to use it in the River Fish Bundle in the Fish Tank at the Community Center. It pairs with the Sunfish, Catfish, and Shad to complete this bundle, but not any other bundles. For completing this, you earn 30 Deluxe Bait.

You may, if you want, use the Tiger Trout in Tailoring. It can be put in the spool of the Sewing Machine and it will produce the dyeable Fish Shirt. You can also use Tiger Trout as orange dye in the dye pots at 2 Willow Lane.
You can put Tiger Trout in a fish pond, but they won’t reproduce like other fish. If you do, you can fill it to maximum capacity without any quests, but the fish won’t organically fill the pond. It may produce dark brown Tiger Trout Roe, but that’s it.
Zach’s Tips
Tiger Trout spawn more often than some other fish in Stardew Valley, so we recommend putting something else in your fish pond. Preferably, it is something that can reproduce. Tiger Trout are good fish, but not in this specific use.
Willy may also ask you to give him Tiger Trout for a quest on the paper at Pierre’s General Store. You will get 150 gold and keep the fish (he may ask for 1-4 Tiger Trout) as a reward. Demetrius may also ask you for this fish during the fall on the Special Orders board at the Mayor’s Manor. You can get the gold you otherwise would have and the Farm Computer recipe from this Special Order Quest.
