Splatoon 3 Frye Boss Guide

Splatoon 3 Frye Intro

You might think that one opposing Inkling will be a cinch to defeat, but sadly Frye has no intention of fighting fair. When the battle begins, Frye will instantly summon a gigantic cube, full of monstrous eels. Frye will remain atop the cube, pelting you with Eel projectiles and staying safe and dry up high. You’ll have to send her eels right back at her if you want a chance of splatting Frye up close in Splatoon 3.

Shooting the regular eels will simply remove them as a threat. But if you shoot any of the masked eels, they will return to Frye, dealing damage and destabilizing her. Shooting all the masked eels summoned for a single attack will stun Frye and bring the cube to a stop. At this point, quickly ink a path up one of its sides and climb to the top in squid form. There, keep firing at Frye to deal damage and enter the next stage of the fight.

Splatoon 3 Frye’s Dances

Frye’s moveset consists of several ‘dances’ that she performs using the eels. She will also sometimes send the cube spinning around the arena, dealing damage on impact.

First Dance – Eel Downpour

Frye has her eels hang in the air for a moment, with several targeting reticules appearing on the ground. The eels will then surge towards these targets and bury themselves in the ground, dealing damage to anything in a small radius. Pay attention to where the masked eels are heading, as you won’t have time to indiscriminately ink them all before the attack resets.

Splatoon 3 Frye Second Dance – Moray Whirlpool

Frye spins her cube to the center of the stage, whipping her eels up into a frenzy. They will swim around the cube in circles, rapidly covering ground, damaging and potentially stunlocking you if you are in their path. The eels’ path makes them fairly easy to wipe out in large numbers, but their speed means it will take careful aiming to clean up the last couple.

Third Dance – Hundred-Eel Vision

Boss Defeat

Frye summons a horde of smaller eels from the cube that cluster and hover in place, shooting you with ranged ink projectiles. Through the projectile barrage can be rough – especially if Frye uses this dance before you have time to cover the stage in ink – the eels remain stationary while firing at you. This gives you time to shoot them out of the air with your Hero Blaster.

Splatoon 3 Frye Final Dance – Great Moray Transformation

This dance is only used once you have damaged Frye twice, entering the final stage of the fight. Frye fully empties the cube of eels, sending them towards you in a huge wave. The eels will fly around the arena and remain out of the box for quite a while, allowing you just enough time to blast them and return them to Frye a final time. The process can be hugely sped up by using a special move to wipe out most of the eels in one go.

With Frye defeated, you’ll gain some Sardinium to unlock new Splatoon 3 abilities and a whole clutch of Power Eggs, enabling you to clear up the Ooze and head over to Alterna’s next island.Â
