How to beat the Carnifex in Space Marine 2 Carnifex

The Carnifex is one of the major bosses that players will encounter in Space Marine 2. The creature appears in the tutorial and again in several missions throughout the Campaign. The giant beetle is a damage sponge, but there are ways to get the better of it and come out victorious. Here’s a closer look at how to beat Carnifex in Space Marine 2.

Beating Carnifexes in Space Marine 2

Carnifex are tough to kill, there’s no shying away from the fact. You’ll often find Melta charges, Krak Grenades, and other high-profile tools to help take them out. We also recommend using melee weapons designed for heavy burst damage or single-target melee weapons, such as the combat dagger. These weapons deliver high DPS value against bosses. 

As long as you can time your dodge roll effectively, you’ll be able to melee attack, dodge attacks, and then Gun Strike the boss for a significant burst damage. It’s worth using the Heavy Bolt Pistol to perform stronger burst damage in those moments, too.

The Multi-Melta and the Multi-Rifle are good for unloading onto bosses. When fighting the Carnifex in Campaign mission 5, there’s a heavy Multi-Melta near the pillar. It will help kill the Carnifex significantly quicker than other weapons in the area.

The Multi-Melta is one of the best weapons in Space Marine 2 for nuking bosses. If you’re playing Operations as a Heavy class, opt for a Multi-Melta loadout at the loadout switch point before the boss fight.

Carnifex moveset

Here are all the attacks and moves the Carnifex uses:

Move / Attack	Description
Swipe	The boss performs a side swipe that can be dodged by rolling backwards.
Jump	The Carnifex jumps towards you, accompanied by a red circle warning signal. Perfect dodge it to trigger a Gun Strike.
Roar	The Carnifex roars and buffs nearby Tyranid gaunts.
Charge	The boss charges towards the player and displays a red circle warning. Dodge sideways to avoid the attack.
Slam	The Carnifex sticks its talons into the ground, then raises them up, dealing huge AoE burst damage to nearby players. Avoid melee attacking it during this move.

There’s nothing too technical about the Carnifex’s moveset. However, they can catch you off guard when they get a little low on health. They’ll often change targets and charge players dealing with swarms while you’re not looking. They can even charge you and perform a big slam attacj, or jump and slam, so there are a few combos to be wary of.
