The Shadowed Plunge is a dungeon in Diablo 4 with a very powerful reward awaiting Rogue players – the Aspect of Branching Volleys, a Legendary Aspect that enables Barrage to ricochet, increasing its AoE and single target damage considerably. It’s a big ticket item for any Barrage or Rogue levelling builds as it makes level progression significantly easier. However, the Shadowed Plunge is locked behind a Stronghold, which players will need to beat before they can access the dungeon. Here is everything you need to know about the Shadowed Plunge dungeon and how to access it.
Shadowed Plunge location
To find the Shadowed Plunge dungeon in Diablo 4, players must first complete the Vyeresz Stronghold. You’ll find the Stronghold in the southern central region of Hawezar in the northwestern enclave area of the Toxic Fens on the southern coast. You will need to be around level 40 to take on the Vyeresz Stronghold.
To complete the Stronghold, you’ll need to interact with the snake alters scattered around the Stronghold grounds. Once that’s done, head to the locked door at centre of the Stronghold and fight off the waves mobs that spawn. Once they are dealt with, head through the now-open door and fight the Stronghold boss. Once the boss is dealt with, interact with the wayshrine to clear the Stronghold. With You’ll then be able to access the Shadowed Plunge dungeon, located on top of the stairs to the east of where you fought the boss.

Shadowed Plunge Walkthrough
When you get into the Shadowed Plunge, you’ll have two major objectives:
- Free 7 Prisoners
- Destroy 3 Ward of Eyes
The first part of the dungeon will have you explore winding pathways. You’ll find seven prisoners spread out across the different box-shaped areas on the map. Simply interact with them to free them. They’ll appear on the map as white diamonds to make finding them easier.
In the second part of the dungeon, you’ll need to progress through and fight off more snake and cultist enemies. You’ll find another large rectangular-shaped room to explore. The 3 Wards of Eyes are located in three of the rectangles right angle corners. The Wards of Eyes are also guarded by elites that you’ll need to defeat. Kill them all and their guards and you’ll complete the dungeon. If you are a rogue, you’ll now have access to the Aspect of Branching Volleys to spruce up your Barrage build.
