How do you start the Indigo Disk DLC in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet? What do you need to worry about completing before you can go on your journey to Blueberry Academy and discover the hidden treasure of the world?

The release date has officially been set in stone with the second part of the DLC coming in December. The first part of the DLC, Teal Mask, dropped in September, giving you enough time to boot your Nintendo Switch back up and play it before the Indigo Disk portion releases.

So what can you expect from the Indigo Disk DLC? How do you get yourself prepared for its release? Here is how to start the Indigo Disk DLC in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet – How to start the Indigo Disk DLC

To start the Hidden Treasure of Area Zero Part Two: The Indigo Disk DLC in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, you first need to purchase the Hidden Treasure of Area Zero expansion pass from the Nintendo store. This will grant you access to both DLCs if you don’t already have access to them.

Once that is done, to start the second DLC, you need to complete the main campaign as well as the entirety of the Teal Mask DLC. If you have completed both stories, you will be granted access to the second DLC on either Pokémon Scarlet or Pokémon Violet.

You will know when you can start the DLC because Director Clavell will call you and ask you to come to the entrance hall of the school. Once there, you will meet with Director Cyrano from Blueberry Academy.

After a short conversation, you will be taken to Blueberry Academy where you get to start living your life as an exchange student.

Again, purchasing the expansion pass grants you access to both DLCs so it is not necessary to purchase the Pokémon Scarlet and Violet Indigo Disk DLC separately.

How to prepare for the Pokémon Scarlet and Violet Indigo Disk DLC

There is plenty that you should do to prepare for the release of the second DLC. Let’s break down everything you should do before the DLC releases.

Stock up on items and Pokéballs

Pokéballs are a necessity and with so many returning Pokémon coming to the game, you will want to make sure you have enough to catch them all. Make sure to stock up on Pokéballs prior to the release of the DLC.

More Pokémon to catch

The Indigo Disk DLC includes of 80 Pokemon for you to find and catch including old starters from different regions and new legendary Pokemon.

Know what Pokémon are returning

There are a lot of returning Pokémon from previous generations such as Bulbasaur, Chikorita, Lapras, Mudkip, Duraludon, and plenty more. Prepare yourself for the BB League by collecting as many of these creatures as possible and training them so you have the best team.

There are also new Pokémon making an appearance such as Ragin Bolt (a past version of Raikou), Iron Crown (a future variant of Cobalion), Archaludon, and the cover Pokémon Terapagos. Each of these powerful Pokémon will be available in the DLC. These even include new paradox Pokemon.

Level up your team

You will be traveling to Naranja Academy’s recently established sister school, Blueberry Academy – situated in the Unova region. Here, you will be taking on the BB League Elite Four. As you spend your time in a large terarium-style battling facility, you will face many trainers. Because of this, you should level up your team ahead of time.

Since you need to beat the previous DLC and the main game prior to this DLC, you should make sure all of your Pokémon are at least level 60. Preferably, you will want your Pokemon to be around level 70 to 80 since the Elite Four members at Blueberry Academy have Pokemon around level 70.

Are you prepared to leave the Paldea region behind and start a new adventure? Now that you have what you need, you should know all the exclusive Pokémon in the Teal Mask DLC. Get prepped by knowing how to evolve Nosepass in the Teal Mask DLC as well.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Indigo Disk Beginner’s Guide – Tips for becoming the new champion

If you want to become the new champion and beat Kieran, you will want to create a plan and stick to it. After beating the DLC and training up a new team, we have some tips to help get you started.

Complete Drayton’s Trial while completing the other Elite Trials

Drayton’s Trial in The Indigo Disk requires you to catch a team of Terarium Pokemon and battle different trainers. We found it beneficial to complete this trial while completing the others. Many of the Pokemon you will find in the DLC are between levels 60 and 72 – much lower than the Elite Four members’ Pokemon.

With that being said, catching this new team and leveling them up while completing the other Elite Trials will help you complete Drayton’s trial a bit easier. You might even get a new team that you like more than your old one.

Expand the Terarium quickly

The Blueberry Academy Terarium doesn’t contain every Pokemon right off the bat. Instead, you will need to upgrade each biome to unlock the starter Pokemon. We suggest that you complete Blueberry Quests quickly so that you can unlock and start catching the starter Pokemon. This will especially help for Drayton’s Trial as it will give you more Pokemon to choose from.

Complete as many Blueberry Quests as you can

Blueberry Quests or BBQs in Pokemon Indigo Disk will get you BP or Blueberry Points which can be used to buy items. These points are also used to start the Elite Trials, upgrade the Terarium, and more. Complete as many of these quests as you can and it will help you out in the endgame. After completing the DLC, the NPC Mr. Snacksworth will appear and give you legendary candy for each 10 BBQs you complete. Don’t wait until the end to get these done.

Save your Rare Candy and EXP Candy

Save your EXP Candy and Rare Candy from the base game to help you level up your Terarium Team faster. After all, you don’t want to complete each trial with under-leveled Pokemon. We suggest you save any EXP and Rare Candy that you might have collected from the base game and Teal Mask DLC to power level your Pokemon in preparation for the Elite Four battles.

Understand the Stellar Tera Type

There is a new Tera Type that is unlocked in the DLC called Stellar. You will face one Pokemon during the DLC story with this Tera Type so understanding it is key. This Tera Type gives a special boost to the same type of attacks during combat the first time they are used.

To further break this down, let’s say you Terrastalize Moltres – a fire-type Pokemon, with the Stellar Tera Type. This will grant each move type a 20% bonus when used the first time. For instance, if you use the move Aerial Ace, it will get a 20% bonus damage. This only applies once to each move type, meaning if you use Aerial Ace a second time, it won’t receive the damage bonus. The same applies to any other flying-type move since one was already used.

The only difference to this is the moves Tera Blast and Tera Starstorm which become the stellar type when you Terrastalize.
