Method 1: Throwing Your Pokeball

Players who have played Pokemon Arceus might be familiar with the Pokeball throwing mechanic when in the wild. Well, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet have this mechanic as well and it can be used to initiate a battle with a wild Pokemon.

The next time you come across a Pokemon in a tree

  1. First, hold down ZL to enter lock on or aiming mode.
  2. Then, lock on to the Pokemon you want to get off of the tree.
  3. Finally, when locked on to the Pokemon, press ZR, and your character will throw a Pokeball at the Pokemon, causing it to fall from the tree and initiate a battle.

Method 2: Knocking Down Pokemon In Trees With Koraidon or Miraidon

The second and more convenient way of knocking a Pokemon down from a tree is by using your version’s legendary Pokemon. Keep in mind that you first need to do a couple of things before you can unlock the ability required to knock Pokemon from trees.

There are essentially two things you need to do first. The first is you need to progress enough in the game so that you unlock your legendary Pokemon as mounts so you could ride them across the region of Paldea.

Then, you should have defeated the Stony Cliff Titan, Klawf, to unlock the ability to dash when riding your Pokemon by pressing the left stick.

Now all you have to do is ride your legendary mount, find a tree with a Pokemon in it, and press the left stick to dash into the tree which will cause the Pokemon to fall off of it. When it does, simply initiate the battle like you would with any wild Pokemon.

Final Thoughts

There’s nothing worse than having a shiny Pokemon spawn in a tree but not knowing how to get it down. Fortunately, nothing even remotely similar to this will happen to you now as you know two different ways to do so.

Although the second method is much easier than the first one if you’re talking about getting the Pokemon down, the first might be quicker as the battle starts instantly as opposed to having to knock the Pokemon down and then initiate the battle when using the second method.
