There have been many Pokemon over the years. Some have been great, while others have been rather forgettable. None, however, have been as unique as the seasonal Pokemon Deerling.

The thing about Deerling is that they have the ability to change their variant according to where in the game they’re found, with all four variants being based on the four seasons. Winter, summer, spring, and fall. In addition to Deerling, its evolved form, Sawsbuck also has variants. However, the way to evolve all variants is the same straight forward one.

How to Get Deerling

Now, while usually, we’d give you a specific or approximate location for the Pokemon we’re talking about, things are a little different here. This is because Deerling can be found in four different types of locations, with every location having a different Deerling seasonal variant.

Therefore, we’ll be going through the approximate location of all four variants so you could catch the one you like the most.

  • The pink spring variant can be found in Southern Paldea’s grassland zones.
  • The green summer variant can be found in the grassy areas of Eastern Paldea.
  • The orange autumn/fall variant can be found in the grassy areas of Western Paldea.
  • Finally, the brown winter variant can be found in Northern Paldea, specifically around Glaseado Mountain.

The four variants of Deerling do not count as different Pokemon in the Pokedex, so if you’re just looking to fill your Pokedex, then catching just one and evolving it should be enough.

How to Evolve Deerling into Sawsbuck

Although there might be multiple variants of Deerling that can be caught in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, the way of evolving them is the same for all of them, and it’s as simple and straight forward as can be.

All you have to do is train your Deerling until it reaches level 34, at which point it will automatically evolve into Sawsbuck. Now, while reaching this level is more than doable by simply training against wild Pokemon or opponent trainers, there are quicker ways.

Probably the best way to do so is by using EXP candies, which can be found by participating in Tera Raid Battle events, with the higher star rating raids being more difficult but also giving better quality EXP candies.

Another way of leveling up your Deerling is by having it auto battle Pokemon while you go around doing other things. This will allow you to passively level up your Deerling.

Final Thoughts

All in all, both Deerling and Sawsbuck are both terrific Pokemon to add to your collection, with many Pokemon collectors actually making an effort to collect all four versions of these unique Pokemon.

One thing to keep in mind is that what Deerling you catch also determines what Sawsbuck variant it evolves into. Just like Deerling, there are four Sawsbuck variants as well, and there are no statistical differences between the four variants in any way.
