All Psychic/Flying-Type Pokémon Ranked

There are only a few psychic-flying type Pokemon that have appeared over the years. Below, we have ranked all of them. This list does not include the pre-evolution forms of some Pokemon such as Swoobat and Xatu.

  1. Galarian Articuno
  2. Lugia
  3. Hisuian Braviary
  4. Xatu
  5. Sigilyph
  6. Swoobat
  7. Oricorio (Pa’u’ Style)

Let’s break down what makes each of these Pokemon good.

Galarian Articuno

Galarian Articuno entered the scene when the Crown Tundra DLC was released for Pokémon Sword and Shield. This powerful new form of Articuno removed the ice-typing and changed it to psychic and flying, making it even more powerful than its original self.

Keeping itself airborne thanks to its psychic powers, it moves in a very refined manner. It uses its psychic powers to unleash devastating abilities like its signature move Freezing Glare.

Lugia

Lugia is one of the oldest Pokemon on the list, making its first appearance in Generation 2 in Pokemon Gold and Silver alongside Ho-Oh. During that time, Lugia made an appearance as one of the box legendaries. Since then, it has appeared in multiple games.

Lugia is known for its defense since it has a higher defense and special defense stat than most Pokemon. This Pokemon is one that you want to be your tank on the battlefield.

Hisuian Braviary

While Braviary has been around for a little while, Hisuian Braviary first appeared in Pokemon Legends: Arceus. The standard Braviary variant is a normal and flying-type combo while the Hisuian variant switched out the normal typing for psychic powers.

Hisuian Braviary is a powerhouse with a high attack stat and decent health. Its other stats, however, are somewhat lacking, making it more of a glass-cannon-type Pokemon.

Did you know?

The first two Pokemon to have the psychic-flying dual typing were Lugia and Xatu, both making an appearance in Generation II.

Xatu

Xatu is the evolved form of Natu from Pokemon Generation 2 and is one of the first dual-type psychic and flying types in the series. Xatu appears in very few games but is worth catching if it appears in the game you are playing.

Typically, Xatu has a higher sp. attack, making its psychic attacks deal decent damage. It also has good speed and a decent defense, making it an okay Pokemon to bring into battle.

Sigilyph

Sigilyph first made an appearance in Generation 5 in the Unova region and has since been in a few different games in the series. Sigilyph has made an appearance in Pokemon Black and White, Pokemon X and Y, and Pokemon Sword and Shield.

Sigilph has a very high special attack stat, allowing you to heavily damage foes with its psychic abilities. It also has a high speed but lacks defenses, making it more of a glass cannon.

Swoobat

Making its first appearance in Pokemon Black and White, Swoobat has since been in multiple games including X and Y and Sword and Shield. This adorable Pokemon is a bit popular thanks to its cute appearance but its stats could use some work.

Swoobat’s main stat is its speed which is extremely high. Everything else, however, is pretty low. This means that if Swoobat gets hit, it is basically done for.

Oricorio

Oricorio first appeared in Pokémon Sun and Moon. This odd Pokemon changes its style and type depending on the type of nectar it eats. This means, if you ever get sick of one typing, you can change it to another.

Oricoio becomes a psychic/flying combo if you feed it Pink Nectar. This Pokemon is another that relies on speed and special attack to hurt opponents and avoid taking damage. Again, this means that it can go down pretty easily if an opponent gets a hit in.

That is all the psychic-flying type Pokemon ranked. For more Pokemon content, you can check out the best fire-type Pokemon in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. You can also check out the fire-type Pokemon strengths and weaknesses.
