- Copper is mined from Copper Ore nodes
- Nodes spawn throughout the open world and appear as rocks with golden chunks on their surface
If you plan on graduating beyond the starting machete and equipping your meta-human with a suite of advanced gear, you’re going to need Copper. Lots of it. It’s used in a huge number of crafting recipes, from weapons to ammunition by way of gear, so it’s vital to establish a steady source of the stuff so you’re not left lacking.
We’ll walk you through how to get Copper. If you’re struggling to get to grips with Once Human’s many systems and glut of early-game content, make sure to check out our beginner’s guide and top tips and tricks.
Mining Copper
To get Copper, you’ll need to mine Copper Ore nodes. These spawn abundantly throughout the open world and appear as grey rocks with golden chips scattered across their surface. Though there’s no set spawn criteria, we’ve noticed that they tend to spawn along roads and away from buildings and settlements in the wilder portions of the map. In other words, you’re never too far from a Copper node.
To mine a Copper Node, approach it and you’ll get a prompt marked as Copper Ore. Tap F to mine it. Your meta-human will automatically pull out a pickaxe and start mining. Each node will net you anywhere from 15 to 20 Copper.
How to make Copper Ingots
One of the main uses of Copper is the crafting of Copper Ingots, a resource used in tons of crafting recipes. To make Copper Ingots, you’ll first need to establish a territory, then build a Furnace (x20 Copper and x30 Gravel).
Interact with the Furnace, then select Copper Ingot from the options. Each Ingot requires x3 Copper Ore and x1 Charcoal. You can make Charcoal from Logs in the Furnace, with each one costing x5 Log. If you have the required resources, use the slider to dial in how many Ingots you want to craft, then tap F to start production. Each Ingot takes 5 seconds to make.
