Are MW3 servers down?
At the time of writing, the MW3 servers are up and running normally. Most recently, there was a period of downtime on November 29 where players headed to social media to report that they were experiencing issues with disconnections from multiplayer and Zombies matches, and were unable to rejoin. Similarly, players looking to start new games were faced with long queues to rejoin the game. Both of these issues were quickly resolved, however.
However, please note that there may be server outages soon. The MW3 Season 2 Reloaded update is coming on March 6 at 12 pm EST. At that time, there should be brief server outages to bring the game into the newest version of S2. You will also have to update the game at that time, so things might be a little rocky with everyone jumping into the game around the same time.
If you’re having problems getting into the game, or connectivity issues like rubber banding, and there are no problems with the servers, it may be an issue with your platform itself, with server issues at PlayStation, Xbox, Steam, or Battle.net themselves.
How to check if MW3 servers are down
The best, and most reliable place to check if the MW3 servers are down is on social media, from the official Call of Duty and Sledgehammer Games Twitter/X accounts. These accounts are typically on the ball, and will provide updates on ongoing issues fairly soon after they’re detected. You could also check the official Activision support page on their website for any news too.
They’ll also keep you updated as to how the issue is progressing, and will announce when the servers will come back online. Stick your notifications on when the servers go down, and you’ll know exactly when they come back online.
