Who is the Unknown Caller?

Once you log into the game, you’ll get a message from an unknown caller asking you to contact a mystery phone number and, ‘Receive sensitive intelligence.’ 

The unknown caller will provide you with intel such as maps or even marked points of interest close to you. The caller will also reveal that, ‘Mission critical intel’ is coming. If you decide to ask for more information, you’ll receive a notification to wait for further instructions. 

For now, it’s unclear who the unknown caller could be in Modern Warfare 2. We can speculate that the images and information shared are somehow connected to the forthcoming Modern Warfare 3 reveal event which will take place on August 17, 2023.

It’s anyone’s guess

Players have also taken to social media to give their best guesses on who the unknown caller might be. Some say it might be one of the franchise’s infamous antagonists, Vladimir Makarov, making his much-anticipated return to the series. 

Makarov’s comeback to the game was hinted in 2022 from a post-credits scene following MW2’s campaign. In this particular scene, a terrorist group takes down a passenger plane after receiving a message from an individual referred only as ‘M’, with the phrase ‘No Russian.’

We now have official information on Makarov’s return and there’s going to be a new Modern Warfare 3 announcement that showcases the campaign antagonist Makarov.
