How to find convoys in MW3 Zombies

In the Tier 2 mission for Act 1, you,ll be tasked with hunting down a Mercenary Convoy to retrieve the keycard it carries. Like in other FPS experiences such as Rage 2, convoys are usually bands of mercenaries that are roaming around the map in heavily armoured trucks. These mercenaries are usually armed with surprisingly high-damage weapons that can take you out faster than you think.

So in MW3 zombies, the chances of you running into a Mercenary Convoy is an entirely random encounter. But during that particular mission, there’s a very good chance of you encountering one. Before you head out in search of one, make sure you’re heavily armed yourself. This means carrying a rocket launcher such as Pila or even a long-range sniper rifle.

Once you’re ready, open up your map and you can spot Mercenary Convoys as three red vehicles driving along the road. Also, you won’t have to stare at your map throughout the mission as the in-game NPCs will call you every time a convoy is near your location. And sometimes it’s better to just stroll or drive around different streets and you’ll find a convoy if you’re lucky. It took me a while to find one but I found two of them by strolling near an Infected Stronghold.

Infected Strongholds are the areas on your map that are marked red. So I wouldn’t suggest heading all the way up there unless you’ve got a killer machine gun or some other heavy weapon to take on the level 3+ zombies. If you don’t have those yet, you ought to stick with the two-road highway that’s almost guaranteed to provide you with a Mercenary Convoy especially the one at Shahin Manor. But be careful as you might run into some medium-difficulty zombies that can also be tough to kill in your search to find convoys in MW3.

It won’t be easy

Regardless of the area you choose to find a Mercenary Convoy, you’re bound to encounter zombies of varying levels. So while you’re on the hunt for a convoy, be on the lookout for zombies as well and always have an escape strategy in mind.

How to destroy a Mercenary Convoy

Interestingly, finding the Mercenary Convoy is a lot more difficult than taking one down. So if you’ve found a Convoy, take out your big guns and shoot at it a few times. Put your explosives to use as well if you don’t have a rocket launcher. Once you’ve shot the convoy a few times, it’ll stop and then you can start engaging the mercenaries properly.

A few of them will storm out of the convoy, kill all of them using a long-range weapon and take cover behind something good as you don’t want to be close enough. And as always, keep an eye out for zombies who will attack you even if you’re fighting off the mercenaries. Although it’s entirely possible to take on a convoy alone, you might want to team up with a squad for this particular mission, especially if you’re struggling to clear it after multiple attempts.

Once you’ve killed off all the mercenaries (and probably some zombies too), you’ll complete the “Destroy Mercenary Convoy” task from the Interceptor mission. If you see the checklist that shows you’ve completed the tasks, you will have to blow up the convoys using a C4, launcher or some other explosive. But that’s not all. After destroying the convoy, you’ll need to find the body of the mercenaries’ highest-ranking officer where you’ll also find a blue keycard floating around the corpse as dog tags do in a Kill Confirmed multiplayer match. Once you grab the keycard, you’ll complete the Interceptor mission in Zombies mode.

Well yes. You can kill level 3 zombies with a vehicle but unlike level 1 zombies, you will have to hit these level 3 zombies more than once to put them down.
