If you’re playing Road to the Show, you probably understand that you have to know how to upgrade your player in MLB The Show 24 or else you’ll never make it. You may also know how challenging it can be to do just that. You play games on games and somehow still sit at a frustrating OVR. Here’s what you can do to help that.
How do I upgrade my player in Road to the Show?
The easiest way to upgrade your ballplayer in Road to the Show is to play your situations well. You only play when you’re hitting, pitching, or the ball is going to be hit to you. For example, we are playing third base in our playthrough. We only get to do anything when the ball is hit there or we’re at the plate/running the bases.
When we get the chance to field the ball, we are careful to ensure we field the baseball cleanly and make a good throw. Otherwise, we will lose attributes and that is the opposite of how to upgrade a player in MLB The Show 24. When hitting, the same logic applies.

Zach’s Tips
Don’t be discouraged by the lack of improvement on your player. It’s designed to be a bit of a grind. You have to improve in the minors and like every prospect, you have a long way to go to get to the show.
That is admittedly a slow grind. You can play several games in a row and only see one of your attributes get a higher number. Fortunately, you can do other things to help in the form of perks and gear. If you equip gear, it quickly boosts your overall rating.
For instance, a new bat can provide seven power. New cleats could improve your speed by five points. A new glove might improve your fielding by three. These won’t make your overall much higher, but you can use them to perform better, which in turn boosts the attributes quickly. These do require stubs most of the time, but it’s worth the investment. You can get some equipment in rewards or for XP levels, too. Make sure to do every mission, too, as they will grant packs that give these items, too.
You can and should also equip perks. Whether on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, or anything else, you can get access to all the same perks. These provide attribute boosts and some of them will upgrade your overall. Just by switching a perk, our player went from a 65 to a 66 right at the beginning of his career. This is how to upgrade a player in MLB The Show 24, and it usually doesn’t cost all that much.
