Is Manor Lords coming to Nintendo Switch

No, Manor Lords will not be released on the Nintendo Switch.

Will Manor Lords release on Nintendo Switch?

No, Manor Lords will not arrive on the Nintendo Switch at launch. The game will be released on Steam, GOG, and the Microsoft Store on April 26, 2024. While it can be easy to dismiss a strategy game on a handheld, players have had a good time trying Manor Lords on the Steam Deck. But that’s not why we find it unlikely that Manor Lords won’t make it to the Switch.

Why Manor Lords on the Nintendo Switch isn’t a great idea

Right off the bat, the inferior performance of the Nintendo Switch would hold it back. Pair that with the CPU-intensive nature of strategy games and it makes sense why solo developer Slavic Magic hasn’t worked on Switch support. With gorgeous visuals influenced by weather conditions and late 14th century Franconia architecture, it would be a challenge to port it over to an aging handheld device. While they are open to adding multiplayer to Manor Lords, making it work on a device comparable to last-gen consoles is a bigger challenge.

Games from other genres had to scale down their graphics to run at reasonable frame rates on the Switch. And with a solo developer at the helm, it would take an absurd amount of optimization to make a strategy game work. One look at the atrocious Nintendo Switch version of Mortal Kombat 1 is proof that scaling down next-gen titles is tough work. Publisher Hooded Horse could spend their efforts elsewhere to improve Manor Lords for Steam, where over 2 million players have wishlisted the game.

While Manor Lords is coming to Xbox consoles at a later date, it doesn’t appear to have an exclusivity clause. But that wouldn’t have been the only thing holding the Nintendo Switch port back. The hardware is a bigger concern. If you want to enter this early access title’s city-building and tactical battles as a medieval lord, you’ll have to play it on PC. We’ll keep this page updated and let you know if Slavic Magic decides to bring their strategy game to the Nintendo Switch.

Can the Switch run Manor Lords?
