Will Manor Lords be released on Mac?
No, Manor Lords will not be released on Apple’s Mac devices. It will launch on Steam, GOG, and the Microsoft Store on April 26, 2024. It is also going to arrive on PC Game Pass. While this partnership with Microsoft does not include exclusivity, we think it’s unlikely that Manor Lords will make the jump to Apple’s ecosystem.
Why Manor Lords isn’t coming to Mac
Creating a strategy game as a solo developer is already a tall ask. Getting developer Slavic Magic to work on another platform would require the incentive of a massive player base. Most of Steam’s 2 million wishlists must be from PC considering how Apple’s ecosystem doesn’t focus on gaming. Most games like League of Legends either offer support for older versions or drop it entirely.
Manor Lords isn’t a particularly demanding game, judging by its system requirements. So the new Apple Silicon Macs shouldn’t have an issue emulating the game in some form. While some fans on Reddit are asking for a port, there isn’t enough attention here to justify working on a port just yet. If the game is successful, the developer might consider Mac support at a later date.
How can I unofficially play Manor Lords on a Mac then?
If Manor Lords is released on cloud streaming services like Nvidia’s GeForce Now, you can use them to stream Manor Lords and play the game. Installing Windows or using a compatibility layer like Whisky, Wine, Parallels, or CrossOver can work but may offer mixed results. For instance, a Mac user noted on Reddit that Parallels wasn’t able to start the game. Apple’s own Game Porting Tool could help but it’s geared at developers, not consumers.
