Like many others in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, the Voivode’s Curse task offers players a challenging and morally complex assignment. After dealing with Miri Fajta’s story, Henry will find himself entangled in the middle of family drama and betrayal, all culminating in a curse. You’ll be put on a dubious mission which you can complete easily (and in a few ways) with the help of our guide.

How to start the Voivode’s Curse task

To begin, you’ll first need to finish the Miri Fajta questline. Once that’s done, head to Nomad’s Camp located west of Zhelejov. Once there, Aranka, the Voivode’s wife, will call upon Henry for help when you select the “I heard you have work for me” dialogue option. This time it’s all – well, mostly – about blacksmithing! Aranka believes that the Voivode is cursed, and she asks Henry to forge a special ceremonial Sabre that can break the curse. But here’s the twist – she needs the blade to be bathed in the blood of an innocent creature.

Instead of making this a violent task, there’s also a more “humane” option. Aranka will give you some of the necessary crafting materials, but you’ll still need to acquire a Deer Skin yourself. You can easily obtain it by hunting or purchasing it from hunters or the general trader in Troskowitz.

Forge Rikonari’s Sabre

To forge the ceremonial blade, dubbed Rikonari’s Sabre, head to the forge in Tachov. But before you can use the forge, make sure you’ve completed the blacksmithing quest to learn the necessary skills. Only then will you be able to start crafting the Sabre. Here’s what you’ll need to forge Rikonaris’ Sabre:

Crafting materialQuantity
Charcoal Water1
Iron1
Fastening Material1
Deer Skin1
Copper1
Steel2

The Blacksmith in Tachov sells everything you need if you’re missing any of the above components, except for the Deer Skin. It’s a good idea to save your progress before you start crafting, in case things don’t go as planned. Once you’re ready, prepare the Sketch and approach the anvil to begin smithing.

Kill a dog to “bless” the Sabre

Now that you’ve forged the Sabre, equip it and return to Nomad’s Camp. When you arrive, don’t talk to Aranka just yet. The most obvious dog around is Bristly in Tachov. But instead of killing someone’s pet, head east, down the road, and look for a small clearing below the cliff. There, you’ll find a group of rabid dogs. Carefully climb down and make sure to only use the newly-crafted Rikonaris’ Sabre to slay the wild dogs. This way, you won’t have to kill anyone more “innocent” than that. Once you’ve completed this task, head back to Aranka.

✓ A canine of a different kind

If you really don’t want to kill any kind of dog, rabid or otherwise, but can’t lie your way through, there’s another option. You can find and kill a wolf, and it will still count for the task’s completion.

Alternatively, you can return to Aranka and pass a skill check to lie about killing a dog with the Sabre. No matter how you succeed in your task, she’ll reward you with a Nomad’s Hat (with 3rd-grade quality) and 45 Groschen, as well as offer you the chance to learn some valuable skills in Lore, Alchemy, and Survival from her. With that, you’ve successfully completed The Voivode’s Curse quest. If you’re feeling particularly devious, you can then pickpocket the Rikonari’s Sabre back from Aranka.
