Whether you’re looking to avoid the dangers and limited visibility or night time, or need to fast-forward time for a quest-related task, skipping time can be very useful in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2. You can, of course, go to sleep at an inn or any other bed that’s yours as you move through the story to advance time, but you can also do so manually. In this guide, we’ll walk you through how to skip time in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2. It’s really quite straightforward but is easily missed given all the systems and mechanics that make up the game, not to speak of the many trials and tribulations thrown at Henry as soon as you land destitute Troskowitz.

How to advance time in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2

To skip time, tap the T key on PC, the touchpad on PlayStation 5, or the view button on Xbox. A circular dial will then appear on the screen, depicting a 24-hour clock and a finger in the inner ring pointing to the current time. You can then shift the finger to the right to the time you want to skip to.

For example, in the image above it’s about 7 pm and we want to move time forward by 10 hours, so we’ve moved the finger forward to 5 am. Once you’ve set the amount of time to skip, tap the start button prompt – E on PC, X on PlayStation 5, and A on Xbox.

To make the most of skipping time, it’s worth reading any books you’ve stolen or picked up to pass time while increasing your skills, namely Scholarship. To do this, open up your inventory and navigate to the Books tab. You’ll see a list of books you’ve found so far. Click on any book with a yellow star (denotes that the book hasn’t been studied in full yet) then tap the Read button prompt (E on PC, X on PS5, and A on Xbox).

Henry will open up the book. You can then choose to study the book using the Study prompt in the bottom right. You’ll then see the same 24-hour clock dial where you can set the amount of time to study. This allows you to make the most of the downtime by acquiring skills from books.

✓ Sleeping to skip time

The most obvious way to advance time is by sleeping. You can do so in any bed that you own or rent. If you sleep in someone else’s bed, you’ll get interrupted and that may cause further trouble for Henry. In addition, note that you can only skip for a maximum of 12 hours. Besides skipping time, sleep will also restore your health and energy, as well as save the game.
