Final Fantasy XIV is one of the fastest growing MMORPGs out there, with countless players venturing into the mythical world Square Enix has masterfully crafted. However, with so many expansions out, Final Fantasy XIV has seen its level cap go to a whopping level 90, which is a rather daunting task, especially for players new to the MMORPG genre of games.Â

To help you in leveling up quicker, we’re here to go through some methods that will save you a BUNCH of time. Because of this, you’ll be able to catch up to your veteran FFXIV players who have been playing for a while in no time.
Final Fantasy XIV: How to Level Up Fast Method #1: Main Story
We know this is an obvious one, but how could we not mention the one method that levels you up fast all the while keeping you engaged? The main story of FFXIV might be slow at the start, but nevertheless, it’s still a goldmine in terms of character experience.

Additionally, it’s always good to be able to learn new mechanics of the game you might not be familiar with, especially if you’re new to the game or the genre.
Final Fantasy XIV: How to Level Up Fast Method #2: Level boosting items and Equipment
FFXIV also has a handful of items that immediately give your player a buff in experience gained as soon as you use or equip them. Unfortunately, most of these items were rewards for players who had pre ordered certain expansions, and since then have been deemed impossible to obtain.
However, FFXIV is very frequently coming out with new expansions, so there’s always a chance you might be able to get your hands on a level boosting item or equipment then. Of course, that doesn’t mean all the items are unobtainable, as that isn’t the case.
All the level boosting items in the game as well as the buffs they give and the way of obtaining them are:
Item | Buff | How to Obtain |
Moogle Cap | +20% experience up to level 10 | Was a preorder bonus for A Realm Reborn |
Helm of Light | +20% experience up to level 10 | Was a preorder bonus for A Realm Reborn (Collector’s edition) |
Friendship Circlet | +20% experience up to level 26 | Given as a gift for recruiting a friend to FFXIV or being recruited by a friend and staying subscribed for 30 days |
Brand New Ring | +30% experience up to level 31 | Earned by completing Hall of Novice |
Ala Mhigan Earrings | +30% experience up to level 51 | Was a preorder bonus for Stormblood |
The Aetheryte Earring | +30% experience up to level 71 | Was a preorder bonus for Shadowbringers |
Menphina’s Earring | +30% experience up to level 80 | Was a preorder bonus for Endwalker |
Final Fantasy XIV: How to Level Up Fast Method #3: Preferred Server Bonus
The last method we’re going through is the preferred server bonus that is given to you if you create a character in, well, a preferred server. Any character created in a preferred server is given the ‘road to 70’ bonus.

What does the road to 70 bonus give your character you ask? Well, it DOUBLES any experience a character with this bonus gets. What’s even more incredible is that this includes any bonus you might have because of buffs.
Of course, the two major downsides to this method are:
- The first is that you have to create an entirely new character in the preferred server
- The second is that there’s no guarantee that your friends will be on that server, nor is it necessary that the server gives you as good a ping as some other nonpreferred server would have given you.
Final Thoughts
There are some more methods you can apply that help you level up your character quicker, such as the armory bonus and the free company buffs, but we definitely believe the three methods we mentioned are by far the fastest, especially if you’re a new player.
