Black Myth Wuong Vessels are a nifty addition to your combat abilities that grant very specific buffs and effects, such as temporary damage reduction. They often shine against specific types of enemies by countering or even completely ignoring very specific attack types like wind. Similar to Spirits, you’ll need QI to activate Vessels. Here’s a closer look at how to get and use Vessels in Black Myth Wukong.
How to use Vessels
When you unlock a vessel, you can use one by pressing RT or R2 and the left thumbstick. You need to select a vessel before you can use it. To select one, open your inventory, and then check the slot next to your spirits and your gear. This is your vessel slot.
When it is selected, build your Qi resource as normal, either by resting or by fighting enemies and building it up. When it’s full, you can then use it to activate the Vessel. To get an idea of what a specific vessel does, head to the vessel menu and press the Watch Demo prompt button.
The best way to use Vessels is to check what you have and how they work. For example, the Chapter 2 vessel is great for counteracting dust storms. This is important, as one of the main mechanics of the final fight in Chapter 2 relies on tornados to CC you. This counters the second and third phases of Yellow Wind Sage incredibly effectively, making the difficulty much easier for what is supposed to be a very hard boss. The first chapter also grants fire res reduction, which counters a lot of the Chapter 1 end boss’ attacks.
How to get Vessels
Typically, there’s one Vessel in each chapter of the main story. To get them, you’ll need to complete secret areas or quest lines that culminate in a boss. The secret depends on the chapter. Each secret level contains a boss, who always drops a vessel. For example, Chapter 1 requires you to hit all the bells in the chapter. You can find them in the following locations:
- Forest of Wolves – Outside the Forest
- Bamboo Grove – Snake Path
- Third Bell: Bamboo Grove: – White Mists
In Chapter 2, you’ll need to complete the Drunk Pig quest line. Grab the Sobering Stone from the Windrest Hamlet by going into one of the optional gardens and smashing the golden crate. You can also get one from the vendor.
When you get it, go to the Cliffs region and find the Drunk Boar NPC in a large garden on the left side of the shrine gate:
- Take a right from the Stone Vanguard area to find this location.
- Once there, meet him the boar at the Crouching Tiger Temple, then get a gold piece from the first Rat Prince boss.
- Return, then head back to the area where you found the Drunk Pig to complete the secret.
These are examples of the early ways to get vessels. When you unlock a secret area, you will then need to fight a boss. The boss will then give you a Vessel as a reward.
