How to download Fortnite on PS5, Xbox, PC, iOS, and Android

If you’re interested in playing the most popular battle royale game, you may be wondering how to download Fortnite. The videogame is available on many devices, from gaming consoles to mobile phones. Unfortunately, the download procedure is slightly complicated on certain platforms, which is why we prepared a guide for you to download Fortnite on PS5, Xbox, PC, iOS, and Android devices.

How to download on PS5

Start up your PS5 console and make sure your PS5 is connected to the internet. Then open up your PlayStation store, select the Search icon and then type in “Fortnite” into the search bar. This will bring up the game, select it, and then select Download. The game will then download and be ready to play as soon as the process is complete.

How to download on Xbox

To download Fortnite onto your Xbox Series X/S, first turn on your console and then press the Xbox logo button on your controller. This will open up a menu, then go to the bottom and open the icon that says Store, by pressing A. The Microsoft store will then open up, highlight the search box and then press A again. Then type Fortnite into the search bar, this will bring up all the Fortnite games, for example, LEGO Fortnite, Fortnite, Fortnite Festival etc. Select the version you want to play, then press A and it will start downloading. Depending on your internet speed, it may take some time to download the game. To see the progress, select Check Install Progress, and you will be able to how much the game has downloaded.

How to download on PC

To download Fortnite onto your PC, you will have to download the Epic Games Launcher first. Once downloaded, log into your Epic Games account, search for Fortnite, and then click on Download. Keep in mind, that it’s recommended to have a 16 GB RAM or higher memory space. After the download is complete, you can play Fortnite from the same launcher app.

How to get Fortnite on iOS outside the EU

Unfortunately, because of a little spat between Epic Games and Apple, Fortnite is currently only available to download on iOS in the EU. Fortnite is currently blocked on iOS in all other regions and will remain so until Epic Games can come to an agreement with regulators. This means that players in the USA, Canada, Australia and anywhere else around the world will be unable to get the game legally.

There are technically some workarounds that can be used to get Fortnite on iOS in these regions, however, these go against Epic Games terms of service and could result in account bans. As such, we do not recommend using these methods at all.

How to download on Android mobile devices

To download Fortnite on an Android device, simply follow these steps:

1. From your Android device, head to fortnite.com/download to download the Epic Games Store onto your device
2. You may get a notification saying your phone ‘cannot install unknown apps from this source’. Press ‘Settings’, and then toggle ‘Allow from this source’ on
3. When you receive a notification asking if you want to install the Epic Games Store, select ‘Install’
4. Once installed, open the app
5. Select the Fortnite app, select ‘Install’ and wait for it to download, and then enjoy your game!

Is Fortnite free to play?

Fortnite is a free-to-play title on every gaming system. However, if you want to play Fortnite: Save the World, you will need to purchase it first. This is the only mode that is paid, and everything else, including LEGO Fortnite and Rocket Racing, is free. Once you start playing on a console, you will have to link your console account to an Epic Games account.
