Rules to follow while changing your Valorant username

In changing your Valorant name, some requirements must be met. Your Riot ID and Tagline should only consist of at most 16 and 5 characters, respectively. The latter is basically a hashtag followed by a set of alphanumeric characters. You can use special characters in your nickname too. Replace both of these and make sure that it’s not against the rules:

  • No names that imply hate speech, slurs, or profanity.
  • No names that refer to historical, ethical, or political contexts.
  • No insulting names or strong vulgarity.
  • Taglines must not indicate a region. Here are some taglines that won’t be accepted: BR, LAS, LAN, OCE, NA, EUW, EUNE, TR, RU, KR, JP, PBE, BR1, LA1, LA2, OC1, and NA1.

Once you’re done, you can check your account to see your new name. Relaunch Valorant to spot Riot ID changes. Do remember that this change will also be applied to your in-game name in other Riot games such as League of Legends and Teamfight Tactics if it is linked to this account.

You can have the same Riot ID as someone else as long as you have a different tagline

Bear this in mind while renaming your account as you might be able to get away with an older name this way.
