She is a fun agent that is worth trying if you’re seeking new agents to play. So without further ado, here’s how to play Neon in Valorant along with tips and a glimpse of her playstyle.
What are Neon’s Abilities in Valorant?
Fast Lane (C)
What’s better than a phoenix wall? Two walls! Yes, you heard it. Neon shoots two electric walls that stand parallel to each other for a short period, these are mainly used for blocking either side of the site. This leaves your foes unaware of your position and where you’ll be spotted next. With Fast lane, isolating angles and blocking chokepoints has never been easier. Having said that, Fast Lane is a great entry tool for Neon and her team.
No matter how good this ability is, it has its own downsides. With no vision on the other side of the walls, your team might get punished by sneaky defenders lurking in the corners. Hence, you’ll need some help from your initiators to spot them or get rid of them.

Similarly, staying inside Fast Lane is not entirely a safe choice. By putting up your wall, your team is expected to pass through the Fast Lane. In some instances, agents like Skye and Phoenix may throw their flash inside these walls, blinding your entire team. There are plenty of threats you can encounter while inside Fast Lane, but there are different ways you can avoid it, especially with her other abilities.
Lastly, ensure to aim higher when using Fast Lane to avoid cutting it short. Fast Lane cannot pass through obstacles like crates, but you can do some workarounds to make it travel over surfaces by aiming higher.
Relay Bolt (Q)
Neon drops a concussion grenade that splits into two upon hitting the surface, with the second one bouncing off like a Sova dart. Two circular areas will be deployed, and enemies caught inside these electrifying bolts will surely be disoriented.

Relay bolt has a pretty wide range, and can be summoned from a far distance. That said, players can get creative when using it. Basically, it is similar to Breach’s stun, but in this case, Neon can easily follow up with her sprint.
One skill that every Neon main should know is the ability to make Relay Bolt bounce off the wall or ground toward the target position. For instance, instead of directly exposing yourself to concuss the enemy holding a judge in the cubby, use this trick when clearing areas. However, knowing where it’ll bounce takes precision and perhaps, a few custom games for practice.
High Gear
High Gear is Neon’s signature skill and without a doubt, her bread and butter. When activated, Neon uses up her power to increase her speed. As Neon rushes her way toward her targets with High Gear, remain alert as while it is at play, all of your weapons are out of your grasp.
While it is good, one needs to know how to manage her energy. Above your ability, the HUD shows an energy meter which will then be consumed while High Gear is active. Avoid using it for extended periods, and leave enough energy levels for critical situations.
Also, make sure to equip your weapon before using High Gear as you would not want to opt out of her signature ability in front of your enemy with a knife in your hand instead of a rifle.Â

As the last component of High Gear, you are also given one charge of an electric slide. Electric slide, combined with Fast Lane, Relay bolt, and your teammates’ ability as you slide into the site, surprising your targets and forcing their crosshair placements to be in shambles.
Overdrive
Neon instantly replenishes her energy and starts to wreak havoc with Overdrive. While active, she will be equipped with an electrifying beam to shoot at her targets and can have High Gear active without consuming energy.Â

Currently, Overdrive is one of the strongest Ultimates in the game. It has high movement accuracy, allowing you to move around as you stomp on your foes. Hitting the head is an absolute must though, because it deals 54 to 30 damage per tick, while body shots only deal 18-10 per tick.
Also, the further the enemy is, the less damage you deal with Overdrive. Luckily, Neon has the exact tools to close the gap between them. Lastly, after 40 ticks, Neon will halt attacking its target to recharge. During this short period, Overdrive is unavailable for a few seconds.
How to use Neon in Valorant: Tricks and Playstyle
When using Neon, playing passively should be out of your vocabulary, but always be prepared. Needless to say, our Filipina agent has a high-risk-high-reward playstyle. Using her involves maneuvering around and capitalizing on her speed to gain advantages. Neon’s kit is meant for aggressive players but also punishes those who are not careful enough. This is what makes her a great duelist.
As an attacker, Neon’s signature skill will be her primary tool in entering the site as her speed allows her to take space at lightning speed. Surprise your targets by zapping them with your kit before they can even react. Aside from entry fragging, Neon can also use her speed to lurk, flank and catch enemies off-guard. Basically, she can be all over the map. In defending sites, one of her greatest assets is her ability to rotate from one site to another in a blink of an eye.Â

As a duelist, one thing that makes her different from the rest such as Jett and Reyna is that she has more utility in her sleeves that do not only help herself but the whole team. She has this electric wall that keeps her and her team out of sight to avoid fighting against enemies in site head-on and a stun grenade that places her targets at a disadvantage.
Next, talking about Neon’s mobility. She really is a mobile agent and a slippery one. Use it to your advantage by constantly moving, making it hard for your foes to hit their shots.
