How long is Final Fantasy 16? Square Enix’s latest sprawling JRPG promises hours of high fantasy-flavoured action in the world of Valisthea, bolstered by a lengthy main story, over 60 side quests, and more optional activities. If you’re thinking of picking up the game or have just started and want to know how much time to set aside to chew through everything there is to do, we’ve got your covered.

Here’s a breakdown of the time needed to beat Final Fantasy 16. If you’re after a more granular overview, here’s the full Final Fantasy 16 quests list and Final Fantasy 16 bosses list.

Final Fantasy 16 story length

The Final Fantasy 16 story should take most players roughly 30 to 35 hours to complete. You can give or take a few hours both ways depending on your skill level, whether you dabble in a few side quests, or take on a couple of the game’s Notorious Marks – elite enemies that offer up a bigger challenge than standard foes. But overall, if you stick to the story and main objective, expect around 35 hours to wrap up Clive’s adventure.

Final Fantasy 16 100% completion length

For those gunning for 100% and taking the completionist route, including ticking off all the Final Fantasy 16 trophies, then the play time swells up to between 65 and 70 hours of playtime. This should be enough to experience everything the game has to offer, including the story, all the side quests, a spot of free exploration, all the Notorious Marks, and time spent tweaking abilities, forging weapons, taking on Chronolith trials, and interacting with random NPCs across Valisthea. There are also collectibles as well, including Orchestrion Rolls, treasure chests, and curiosities, which add to the playtime. You can conceivably cut down on this time by skipping cutscenes and dialogue, but even then expect at sink at least 60 hours into the game.

Final Fantasy 16 has a new game plus mode, along with higher difficulties, a higher level cap, and an arcade mode, most of which unlock after the first playthrough. If these tickle your fancy, then expect to get much more than 70 hours from the game, though for most that should be enough for a single, packed first playthrough and a platinum trophy.
