Knowing how to get a chocobo in Final Fantasy 16 allows you to summon a chirpy, fleet-footed mount to get from quest to quest much quicker. A series staple, chocobos make a welcome return in Final Fantasy 16. You’ll see them crazing out in the wilds and even get to call one – a white chocobo by the name of Ambrosia – your own.

How to get a chocobo in Final Fantasy 16

To get a chocobo mount in Final Fantasy 16, complete The White-Winged Wonder side quest. You can start the quest by speaking to Rowan near The Fallen Gate just north of the Martha’s Rest Obelisk in Rosaria. Note that the quest won’t unlock until you’ve started The Gathering Storm main story quest and completed the Release part of that quest, which takes you to the abbey to investigate a disturbance.

Rowan drafts you in to help a flock of chocobos targetted by bandits, which includes a rare white chocobo. Accept the quest, head across the bridge towards the quest marker and take a right to a dead end near the old dock. Approach the white feather, then continue on. Defeat the group of chocobo poachers and the huntsman. Sit through the cutscene, which reveals that the white chocobo is in fact Clive’s old mount, Ambrosia. To mount the chocobo press X.

From then on, you’ll be able to call and ride Ambrosia anywhere except for in towns, settlements, and during major story moments.
