To skip cutscenes in Final Fantasy 16, tap the options button to pause the game, then hold the triangle button to jump to the next scene. You’ll see the option in the bottom left hand of your screen, typically next to the Active Time Lore button. Hold the triangle button until the circle around the on-screen icon fills up.

When you are speaking with NPCs for side quests, at shops, or through simple exploration dialogue, you can skip the next sentence by tapping X. There’s no cap on this and you can steam through the entire conversation by repeatedly tapping X.
