For all of the fantastic beasts, spell-casting, and potion brewing in Hogwarts Legacy, one of the most thrilling aspects of the game is the ability to style your wizard as you see fit, thanks to a robust transmog system.

Among the slew of gear available are robes and cloaks, the dress of choice for any budding wizard, whether or not they veer more towards the bookworm or the wily adventurer. Most robes and cloaks feature a hood, begging the question of whether it’s possible to sneak through the castle’s secret rooms and torch-lit corridors with it up. 

The answer is, thankfully, yes. In this guide, we’ll explain how to put your hood up in Hogwarts Legacy.

How to Put Your Hood Up in Hogwarts Legacy

Here’s how to put your hood up – or down – in Hogwarts Legacy:

• Open up the Field Guide, otherwise known as the pause menu.
• Head to the Gear menu in the top left of the screen.
• Tap the Cloaks and Robes option and put on a cloak or robe that has a hood. This won’t work without one.
• Once equipped, return to the main Gear menu.
• Hover over Cloaks and Robes, and a new window will pop up detailing the stats of the currently equipped robe.
• You’ll see a ‘Hood On/Off’ option in the bottom right of this new window.
• Tap the corresponding button for your platform (Triangle on PS5 and Y on Xbox, for example) to put your hood on or off in Hogwarts Legacy.

Tap the button to switch between the two options. You can see the results on your character in the gear menu’s background.

There’s no gameplay or stealth benefit to wearing the hood up, but it goes a long way to bathe your wizard/witch in a mysterious aura sure to send shivers down the spines of your fellow students.
