Halo Infinite Infection mode explained

A Halo fan favorite, the Infection mode has spread across several other shooters and video games. Halo Infinite brings the game mode back to the stable. Watching zombified Spartans taking down the survivors is a tense and exciting affair. This mode puts all the players on one side and infects a few of them, turning them into the Alpha Infected.

The latter have the ability to turn survivors into zombies by killing them. The game proceeds until there are no survivors left. This is an uphill battle for the survivors because their friends will slowly join the Infected side and haunt them. A single Alpha Infected can take out multiple survivors with their deadly Energy Sword.

Halo Infinite puts a new story spin on Infected. This time, it’s the result of a training experiment gone wrong. The game also drops random weapons on Spartan corpses, meaning that survivors can loot their friends to, well, survive. Scores are handed out based on how long players can survive the onslaught.

The last Spartan will get perks like unlimited ammo and an Overshield but their location will be revealed to all Infected players. This makes for some nailbiting action where one Spartan tries to outwit an entire horde of players. Halo Infinite will feature unique blood-red Energy Swords and red skull helmet projections for its Infected players. Players get special variants of 9 maps to play in.

Here are the Halo Infinite Infection maps coming with Season 4:

  • Aquarius
  • Bazaar
  • Behemoth
  • Chasm
  • Cliffhanger
  • Forest
  • Launch Site
  • Recharge
  • Streets

And that covers everything we know about Halo Infinite Season 4. Head over to Halo Infinite and take the fan-favourite Infection game mode out for a spin. It’s a game mode that’s loved by both old and new fans. Regardless of whether you survive long enough or turn into the Infected, you’ll have a good time amidst its tense engagements.

New armour coatings and weapon skins provide a compelling reason to participate in the game’s events scattered over the next couple of weeks. While the weapon model customization is purely cosmetic, it gives players bragging rights and pairs well with the game’s armour customization.

Dive into the new season to experience the game’s Infection mode and work your way up towards the Max Rank reward. The new season augments Halo’s iconic multiplayer with a new progression system that delivers military-style ranks to your Spartans. Unlock Armor cores and enhancements for them as you face your opponents and work from a Cadet rank towards the coveted Onyx rank. These grades are a step up from the smaller increments we’ve seen from previous seasons of Halo Infinite.
