What are the best Yelan builds in Genshin Impact? Yelan is a five-star Hydro character in Genshin Impact. Here is everything you need to know if you want to build her. Yelan can be a main DPS or a Sub DPS thanks to her incredible off-field Hydro application. If you want to build her, you might be wondering which weapons and Artifacts are best for her.

Yelan is only available through limited banners, meaning you’ll have to wait for a re-run if you didn’t pull for her in her previous banner. You’ll also get a chance to pull her in the upcoming Genshin Impact 4.0 banners once the Genshin Impact 4.0 release date lands. Now, let’s take a look at her best builds.

Best weapons for Yelan

Yelan’s Elemental Skill and Burst damage both scale off of her HP stat, which means the most optimal weapon for Yelan will need to boost her HP. As it stands, the only bow in the game that does this is her signature weapon, the Aqua Simulacra. This can only be obtained from wishing on the weapon banner when it is featured.

If you have Aqua Simulacra to hand, then give it to Yelan. This weapon isn’t necessary for Yelan to deal the most damage, but it is her best-in-slot weapon when it comes to available bows. Another five-star alternative is Elegy for the End. If you don’t have Aqua Simulacra, there are also some decent four-star alternative weapons to give her.

One of the best alternatives for Yelan is the four-star weapon, The Stringless. Check out this handy table below for some other weapon options for her.

Weapon nameMain StatPassive effect
Aqua Simulacra (5*)Crit damage.Increases HP by 16%. Increases DMG by 20% when enemies are near.
Elegy for the End (5*)Energy rechargeIncreases Elemental Mastery by 60. When you use your Skill, you get one stack of Sigil of Remembrance. When you reach four stacks, it increases all party members’ Elemental Mastery by 100 and ATK by 20%.
The Stringless (4*)Elemental MasteryIncreases Elemental Skill And Elemental Burst DMG by 24%.
Sacrificial Bow (4*)Energy RechargeAfter damaging an opponent with an Elemental Skill, there is a 40% chance to reset the cooldown so you can use your Skill again.

As you can see, the HP bonus you get from Aqua Simulacra is extremely helpful for increasing Yelan’s damage. With that said, you can get plenty of HP increases from your Artifact sets, which will help offset any deficit you may have.

The Stringless could be Yelan’s best four-star option

Thanks to the elemental skill and burst damage increase you get from The Stringless, we would recommend this as Yelan’s best four-star weapon. If you want more ER, try out the Sacrificial Bow.

Best Artifact sets for Yelan

Yelan can fit into a team as a main DPS or sub-DPS support. Due to this versatility, she has a few Artifact sets that will slightly change how well she performs in each role. Generally speaking, Yelan works best as a sub-DPS support character, but she can be used as a main DPS if you want.

Check out this table below to get an idea of the best Artifact sets and stats you’ll need. To build Yelan as a sub-DPS, try the following sets.

Artifact setsReason
Two-piece Tenacity of the Millelith with two-piece Heart of DepthDue to Yelan’s Burst and Skill scaling from HP, equipping two pieces from this set will increase her HP by 20%. As a Hydro character, Yelan will benefit from the Hydro damage boost from equipping two pieces of the Heart of Depth.
Four-piece Emblem of Severed FateThis set is a decent substitute to the one above if you need more Energy Recharge. Emblem of Severed Fate will help Yelan with any Energy Recharge problems she may encounter. The more ER means the quicker you get to use her Burst, which has a high cost.

Bear in mind that all Flower and Feather Artifacts in Genshin Impact will always have HP and ATK as their main stats respectively. When it comes to substats on these Artifacts, you will want to aim roughly for these:

Artifact PieceMain StatSubstat Priority
FlowerHPHP > ER > Crit rate/DMG
FeatherATKHP > ER > AKT > Crit Rate/DMG
SandsHP%HP > ER > ATK > Crit rate/DMG
GobletHydro DMGHP > ATK > ER
CircletCrit rate / Crit DMGHP > ATK > Crit rate/DMG

Energy Recharge is an important stat for Yelan, which is why you should look for it in your substats. If you find you need more Energy Recharge, you can use the four-piece Emblem of Severed Fate to try and get more. A decent ER stat for Yelan is somewhere between 140 – 180 percent.

Yelan Talent priority

When it comes to levelling Yelan’s Talents, you absolutely want to focus first on her Elemental Burst. This will be the main source of her damage due to how her Burst operates. When used, she increases your damage and will fire Hydro projectiles at enemies when you attack.

After her Burst is levelled, focus on Yelan’s Elemental Skill. This ability lets you sprint around the battlefield, tieing up enemies with a blue thread that deals Hydro damage when the effect ends. When her Burst and Skill are levelled, you can put some levels into her normal attack, but this is not a priority.

Don’t worry about Yelan’s normal attack

Yelan’s normal attack doesn’t scale off of HP like her Skill and Burst, which means her normal attack damage will be lacking to the point where you should mostly avoid using it unless her Burst is active and she is your on-field DPS.

Yelan Constellations

Like with every Genshin character, Yelan has six Constellations that will improve her kit. Even at C0, Yelan is a force to be reckoned with, so you don’t need to worry about getting her Constellations to make her a powerful character.

  1. Enter the Plotters – Give Yelan’s Elemental Skill an extra charge.
  2. Taking All Comers – Give Yelan’s Burst an extra Hydro projectile when attacking.
  3. Beware the Trickster’s Dice – Increases Yelan’s Elemental Burst Talent, Depth-Clarion Dice, by three.
  4. Bait-and-Switch – Increases Max HP of the entire party by 10% for 25s for every opponent marked by Yelan’s Skill.
  5. Dealer’s Sleight – Increases Yelan’s Elemental Skill Talent, Lingering Lifeline, by three.
  6. Winner Takes All – After using her Burst, all of Yelan’s normal attacks will be enhanced. For the next five shots, her normal attacks will be considered charged attacks and deal more damage than usual.

While most of these Constellations aren’t anything special, Yelan’s second, fourth, and sixth will go a long way in making her an extremely broken character. Even without them, she will still perform extremely well.
