Want to know how to get The Catch in Genshin Impact? The Catch is an excellent free-to-play four-star polearm you can get from the Fishing vendor in Inazuma. The Catch’s main stat is Energy Recharge which is an extremely important stat for powerful polearm users like Raiden Shogun and Xiangling. This weapon may be free and does not require any wishing, but getting this weapon has a “catch.” While it is not as expensive as the other weapons, acquiring one, let alone refining it, is time-consuming and quite complicated.

Elsewhere in Genshin, you should read our guide on how to get to Inazuma in Genshin Impact and make sure you check out our Genshin Impact codes guide to grab all the freebies you can. Now, this is how to get The Catch in Genshin Impact, and ways to refine it.

How to get The Catch in Genshin Impact

There is only one way to get The Catch and that is by fishing. The Catch is a 4-star polearm weapon in Genshin Impact that is obtainable from the Inazuma Fishing Association. This weapon is quite demanding as it will require you to catch several types of fish in exchange for it.

In fact, obtaining The Catch will take you around 1-2 weeks to complete unless you follow these tips and know where to fish. You will need the following fish to trade for The Catch:

  • 20 Rusty Koi
  • 20 Golden Koi
  • 6 Raimei Angelfish

Unlock Fishing by Completing the Exploding Population Quest

Reach Adventurer Rank 28 and unlock the Serenitea Pot. Once it’s open, head to the Adventurer’s Guild in Monstadt and talk to Katheryne to initiate the quest. In this Fishing Quest, you must speak with Nantuck on Cider Lake. The Fishing System will then unlock after clearing the Exploding Population Quest.

Learn how to fish

Certain fish are attracted to certain bait, which means you will only be able to catch the Koi and Angelfish you need if you have the corresponding bait by crafting them at the crafting table. You will need Fake Fly Bait for the Koi and False Worm bait for the Angelfish.

If you have Thoma, you will have a 20% chance to obtain one extra fish while fishing in Inazuma. You don’t need to have Thoma in your active team for this passive to work, and it only triggers if you’re in Inazuma.

How to catch Rusty Koi and Golden Koi

There are several locations within Monstadt, Liyue and Inazuma where you can obtain Rusty Koi and Golden Koi. These are easier to catch but it will take time before you can take all 40 of it. Not to mention, Koi takes three days before it respawns.

How to catch Rusty Koi and Golden Koi

Rusty and Golden Koi can be found in the following areas:

  • South of Monstadt City
  • Northeast of Guili Plains
  • Luhua Pool
  • West of Wangshu inn
  • Koseki Village
  • Stormbearer mountains

How to catch Raimei Angelfish

The population of Raimei Angelfish, on the other hand is quite scarce. There is only one area where you can find the Raimei Angelfish, and it only appears at night from 18:00 to 6:00 in Inazuma. There’s no need to wait as you can simply navigate to the Paimon menu and change the time yourself. Raimei Angelfish are located in the western part of Tatarasuna, below the Kujou Encampment. You will need to use the Waverider to reach it and we recommend killing the Slimes and Abyss Mage before trying to fish.

How to Refine The Catch in Genshin Impact

Ako’s Sake Vessel is a specialized refinement material for The Catch which you can buy from the Fishing vendor in Inazuma. One stack of Ako’s Sake Vessel costs 3 Raimei Angelfish, 10 Pufferfish and 10 Bitter Pufferfish, and you will want to refine this weapon four times, which means you need four times this amount.

  • Monstadt City
  • Southwest of Dawn Winery
  • East of Qingce Village
  • Southeast of Liyue Harbor
  • Fort Hiraumi
  • Nazuchi Beach
  • Ritou

In total, you need 12 Raimei Angelfish, 40 Pufferfish and 40 Bitter Pufferfish. The Catch is indeed a heaven-sent weapon, especially for F2P players as it is only a 4-star weapon and it is one of the best alternatives for Raiden Shogun if you don’t have Thundering Pulse. If you are impatient for the fish to respawn in your world, you could go online and ask the host of the world you join if you can do some fishing.
