Epic Games just released more free cosmetic items in Fortnite! By joining the Lantern Trials event, you can get three new cosmetics, including the Nightblade pickaxe. However, it’s important to note that the event is available for a limited time. Due to this, you only have a few days to join it and unlock all the new cosmetics for free.

How to get the Nightblade pickaxe in Fortnite
To get the Nightblade pickaxe, you will have to join the Fortnite Latern Trials event and complete a couple of easy quests. These quests can only be completed in Battle Royale and Zero Build modes. Due to this, you will not receive quest progress by playing Team Rumble or similar modes. Furthermore, the quests are available in both ranked and non-ranked modes.
The first thing you need to do is open the event website and log in with your Epic Games account. If you have multiple accounts, make sure to log in on the account you will be playing on. As soon as you log in, you will receive the Disco Baller spray, which is the first free reward.
To unlock the Nightblade pickaxe, you will have to survive storm circles in eligible game modes. More specifically, you need to collect 11 badges to receive the pickaxe, and you will receive one badge for each five storm storms you survive. If you get to the very end of every match, you can complete all the quests in approximately five games.
Surviving storm circles can be difficult, which is why we recommend you join Fortnite bot lobbies. These lobbies have weak AI-controlled players that you can easily beat. Due to this, it’s very easy to get to the end of every match while surviving at least seven or eight storm circles per game.

Will I be able to purchase the Nightblade pickaxe in Fortnite’s Item Shop?
Epic Games hasn’t clarified if the new pickaxe will come to the Item Shop at some point. However, we expect it to be available in the future, although you’ll have to purchase it with V-Bucks. This may be your only chance to get it for free.
What other rewards can I get for free?
By getting five badges, you will receive the Moonlit Peace wrap, on top of the spray you receive when joining the event. The Nightblade pickaxe is the third and final reward of the Latern Trials.
