Midas and his golden touch were a big part of Fortnite Chapter 2. With the release of the Chapter 2 Remix season, it’s no surprise that the popular character will once again play a huge role. Meowdas, one of the new Battle Pass skins, is based on him, as is the Golden Scythe Pickaxe, which is a new free cosmetic item in Fortnite.
In this guide, we will reveal how you can unlock the new Fortnite pickaxe for free. The entire process is quick and straightforward, and you’ll be able to get the new item in less than a game or two.
How to get the Golden Scythe Pickaxe in Fortnite
Fortnite Chapter 2 Remix kicks off with a new limited-time quest. By completing this quest, you will unlock the Golden Scythe Pickaxe for free. To complete it, you simply need to earn 140,000 XP. You can do this in any game mode in Fortnite, from Creative to Reload or Battle Royale. To put this into perspective, you only need to level up twice to unlock the pickaxe.
You will only get the free pickaxe if you complete the quest before November 11 at 12 AM Eastern Time. The cosmetic item may come to the Item Shop at a later date, but this hasn’t been confirmed by Epic Games yet.

If you’re struggling to do this against human opponents, consider entering bot lobbies and finishing quests without any interruption.
