Epic Games just released another free Fortnite skin. The skin is called Redcap and it comes with a couple of matching accessories. The best thing about these cosmetic items is that they are free, and Fortnite players from all around the world have a couple of months to obtain them.

Redcap is a new variant of Madcap, a popular skin first released in January 2022. Interestingly, the free skin was leaked ahead of its release. Considering the popularity of the first skin, we expect players to work on obtaining Redcap as quickly as possible.

This guide will explain all you need to know about the free Fortnite skin and how you can add it to your collection.

How to join Fortnite’s Refer-A-Friend program and get free Redcap skin

Redcap is part of Fortnite’s Refer-A-Friend program. This is the third such program, as the last one ended in January 2023. If you are interested in this skin, you will have to refer a friend and have them create a Fortnite account. After that, you both need to complete a few challenges to get the free skin.

It’s important to note that both you and your friend will receive the skin. Also, Redcap is an exclusive skin, meaning that it won’t be released to the Item Shop.

If you want to add it, please follow these steps:

You can earn seven rewards in total. Besides the free Redcap skin, you’ll also receive a back bling, pickaxe, emoticon, spray, banner icon, and wrap. These are the in-game quests you will have to complete to unlock these free items:

  • Create a connection (refer a friend)
  • Play 1 match with your connection
  • Place Top 10 6 times with your connection
  • Eliminate 45 enemies with your connection
  • Gain 50 levels with your connection

You may complete these quests in Zero Build, Battle Royale, and Ranked modes. Additionally, you can use Fortnite’s bot lobbies to finish these tasks easily.

If you invite multiple friends through Fortnite’s Refer-A-Friend program, you may progress through these tasks even faster. For example, the quest with 45 eliminations requires combined eliminations, which can be done much faster with multiple friends.

The free Redcap skin will be obtainable for a limited time. The Refer-A-Friend 3.0 program will conclude on Tuesday, January 9, 2024. However, there’s a chance that Epic Games will extend it for a few more weeks, allowing more players to obtain the skin.
