Final Fantasy XIV is an incredibly huge game, and with a game as huge as this, there’s bound to be some sort of challenge with stakes. That may be a tough boss in a dungeon, or maybe just regular mobs in the wild.

When coming across a challenge, you’ll eventually end up losing health and, well, dying. Now, this game isn’t a soulslike or anything similar to that, but dying is often a part of it. However, when a player’s character dies for the first time, 9 out of 10 times they get completely confused as to what they should do next.

We’re here to tell you how to respawn after your health hits zero in FFXIV.

How to Respawn in Final Fantasy XIV

There are a total of two ways you can respawn in FFXIV. However, one of the two relies heavily on other players, which means your location, server, and the time you’re playing all play a huge factor.

Here are all the methods that you can use to respawn in the game:

Have Someone Else Respawn You

As soon as you die in-game, your character lies down on the ground and you won’t be able to move them at all. In this state, if another player was to pass by your character and chose to interact with it, you’ll instantly be revived at the same place you fell.

Although this is a rather useful way of getting revived, it ultimately depends on many factors outside of your control. Not every server or location is populated, and that means you might be waiting for someone to find you for longer than it would take you to just use the second method.

Luckily, it’s still possible to shout in the chat box, and you also have the ability to drop your exact coordinates in chat for other players to see. If even one kind soul reads your message then you’ll be saved. One thing to keep in mind, however, is that there’s no limit to how long you can stay in this state.

What this means is that there’s a chance that you could be waiting for someone to revive you for a long time if you’re unlucky.

Return to Home Point

If you’re someone who either doesn’t want to wait for another player to revive you, or if your location or server isn’t populated enough, then you can also return back to your home point completely free of charge.

To do so, simply look at the ‘return confirmation’ option at the bottom right side of the screen when you’re in a death state. Clicking it will open a chat box that you can interact with to return to your home point instantly.

That was everything you needed to know about respawning in FFXIV. One more thing; the concept of respawning is more or less the same when in dungeons, with the only exception being that if you choose to return, you’ll be teleported at the start of the dungeon instead of at your home point.
