Want to learn how to get Shroud Cores in Enshrouded? These blue swirling orbs are a crucial material needed to level up the Flame Altar, which grants a boost to the building area available to construct your base. But, they are rare and tracking them down isn’t all that obvious, especially if you’re in the early stages of Enshrouded.

Where to find Shroud Cores in Enshrouded
To get Shroud Cores in Enshrouded, you’ll need to fight and defeat Elixir Well bosses in the Shroud. In the early game, the simplest way to get your first Shroud Core is to follow and complete the Clear the Elixir Well quest handed out by the Blacksmith.
The quest takes you into the Shroud and to an Elixir Well not far from the starting base area and to a boss called Thunderbrute. This boss packs a punch but is generally quite slow and has well-telegraphed attacks that are easy to dodge. After defeating the Thunderbrute, loot its body to get a Shroud Core, which you can use to upgrade the Flame Altar to level 2.

Later on, you can craft Shroud Cores. To get the Shroud Core recipe, complete the Powerful Alchemy quest by awakening the Alchemist in an Ancient Vault in the west of the Springlands. Summon the Alchemist to your base and set him up with some shelter.
From there, interact with the Alchemist and you’ll be able to craft Shroud Cores, which require x10 Shroud Spores and x10 Shroud Liquid to craft. Both are found in the Shroud. Shroud Spores are available as loot from Fell enemies. You can farm Shroud Liquid from the corrupted grey, circular vegetation that grows abundantly throughout the Shroud.

Beyond upgrading the Flame Altar, Shroud cores are also used in the following crafting recipes:

- Small Magic Chest
- Medium Magic Chest
- Large Magic Chest
- Huge Magic Chest
