* Indicates a new signing for the 2023/24 season

There is an obvious balance issue with the Everton squad. There are far too many central midfield players, and there is very little variety in styles of play. New signings Arnaut Danjuma and Beto will add some fresh attacking impetus, but the wide areas are a definite concern. It is a shame it never worked for Moise Keane, as he would have been a great fit for any Career Mode side. There are some positives though, with several young players a season or two away from being excellent players.

Jordan Pickford – 82 overall

England’s number one Jordan Pickford is likely to remain Everton’s highest-rated player in the new game. Despite the Toffees’ struggles last season, Pickford showed his quality in a number of games, and Everton will need him at his best once again as their attack looks goal shy.

Beto – 80 overall

Are we looking at a new Ultimate Team favourite? Portuguese striker Beto possesses all the attributes to be a huge success in the Premier League, and in FC 24. Standing at 6’4″, Beto’s great pace and strength should catch the eye of FUT fans in the early stages.

Arnaut Danjuma – 80 overall

Dutch winger Arnaut Danjuma has finally made the move to Everton. Last season’s loan spell at Spurs saw him start just one match, so it could be a challenge for him to maintain his 82 overall from FIFA 23. Instead, we see his rating dropping to 80 OVR from the start of the new game.

James Tarkowski – 79 overall

A truly dominant centre-back, Everton just need to find a partner for James Tarkowski. Tarkowski has worked with Sean Dyche before and will have the full backing of the manager. However, Seamus Coleman’s lengthy injury lay-off and the departure of Conor Coady leaves a lack of leaders at the back.

Idrissa Gueye – 78 overall

Experienced midfielder Idrissa Gueye will be crucial to Everton’s hopes of staying up this season. Alongside Abdoulaye Doucoure and Amadou Onana, Gueye can marshal the midfield and keep Everton defensively solid. With three Ligue 1 titles under his belt, Gueye will be one of the higher-rated players in the squad.

Everton are particularly light in the full-back areas of the pitch. Take a look at the best young left backs and best young right backs to see which players could strengthen the team.
