The EA Sports FC 24 cover star is a hot topic. The first game since the name change means the first cover athlete for EA Sports FC will go down in history. Last year’s cover star Kylian Mbappe remains one of the world’s top players, but change is coming as the Ultimate Edition cover is revealed.

More news regarding the game will be revealed as the EA Sports FC 24 release date moves ever closer. The lone cover star will be officially announced in due course. However, leaks have surfaced suggesting a new cover star for this year’s game.

The FIFA 23 cover stars were Kylian Mbappe and Sam Kerr. This year, consistent FIFA leaker FIFA 23 News has declared that Man City’s goal scoring phenomenon Erling Haaland will be the lead EA Sports FC 24 cover star.

While the Standard Edition cover remains unseen, Erling Haaland is the central figure in the new EA Sports FC 24 Ultimate Edition cover. Norway’s leading man made a splash in his first season in the Premier League. There are always doubters when a top player moves to England, but Haaland proved any of his critics wrong and then some.

Not only did Haaland score with unerring regularity, he broke the record for goals in a single Premier League season. Haaland bagged 36 goals in 35 appearances in the Premier League. He also scored 12 goals in 11 matches in the Champions League.

In fact, the only competition he didn’t score in for Man City last season was the Community Shield. This can be put right when City take on Arsenal in the season’s annual curtain raiser at Wembley Stadium.

Haaland is set to take over from Mbappe as the lead cover athlete. Mbappe himself enjoyed a fruitful season with PSG, although uncertainty over his future may have something to do with the change from EA.

Whether this switch also signals change in the EA Sports FC 24 ratings remains to be seen. Haaland will surely be up among the best players in the game, but will he surpass Mbappe at the top of the pile?

Ultimate Edition

The Ultimate Edition cover has now been officially unveiled. A total of 31 footballing superstars feature on the Ultimate Edition, with Man City’s Erling Haaland, Real Madrid’s Vinicius Jr, and Chelsea’s Sam Kerr filling the three central spaces.

Kylian Mbappe has been completely omitted from the Ultimate Edition. Whether this has something to do with his potential move away from PSG remains to be seen, but his current club teammate Marquinhos is one of the players on the cover.

Brazilian Icon Ronaldinho also features, along with Rudi Voller, Pele, Didier Drogba, and David Beckham. One thing to note is that some of the Icons like Johan Cruyff are wearing their club colours. Does this signal a change in the way Icons and legends feature in the game?

Current Premier League stars that have been included are Marcus Rashford, Bukayo Saka, Alexander Isak, Virgil van Dijk, Heung-Min Son, and Enzo Fernandez. Real Madrid new boy Jude Bellingham and German wonderkid Youssoufa Moukoko are two of the game’s brightest talents and are also on the cover.

The players on the EA Sports FC 24 Ultimate Edition are:

  • Marta
  • Marcus Rashford
  • Rudi Voller
  • Pele
  • Zinedine Zidane
  • Bukayo Saka
  • Andrea Pirlo
  • Mia Hamm
  • Johan Cruyff
  • Alex Scott
  • Ronaldinho
  • Alexandra Popp
  • Riquelme
  • Didier Drogba
  • Leicy Santos
  • Jude Bellingham
  • David Beckham
  • Vinicius Jr.
  • Erling Haaland
  • Sam Kerr
  • Leah Williamson
  • Marquinhos
  • Youssoufa Moukoko
  • Alexander Isak
  • Selma Bacha
  • Alexia Putellas
  • Virgil Van Dijk
  • Son Heung-Min
  • Trinity Rodman
  • Federico Chiesa
  • Enzo Fernandez

The graphics are also noteworthy. As several fans have pointed out online, the player depictions on the Ultimate Edition leave a lot to be desired. We love the concept of this cover art, but it must be said that some of the likenesses are a bit disappointing.
