Diablo 4 Reject the Mother location
You can start the Diablo 4 Reject the Mother quest by picking up a Torn Note located in the centre of Abahru Canyon in the Tusmaa Rift subregion of the Dry Steppes region in Sanctuary. The note is sitting on the floor next to a rocky cliff, just east of the only Altar of Lilith in Abahru Canyon. Refer to the image above for the exact location on the Diablo 4 map. If you’re far enough into the campaign, the location is marked on your map with a blue exclamation mark. It’s to the east of Ked Bardu, the closest waypoint.
If you can’t see the blue exclamation mark, you won’t be able to start the quest quite yet. Progress through the main story line and wrap Act 3, which takes you to Abahru Canyon, and you’ll be able to start the quest by picking up the Torn Note.
Diablo 4 Reject the Mother riddle solution
To complete the Diablo 4 Reject the Mother side quest, head to the secret shrine at the marker on your map, north of the note, and use the No emote in front of the statue. This towering statue in Rift’s hidden shrine is the key to solving the quest. The quest marker is next to the Dark Ravine dungeon entrance. The note asks you to ‘shout your rejection, no Mother of mine’, a big clue. Tap E to bring up the emote wheel and choose the No emote. If it’s not on the wheel, tap the ‘customize’ button below and add it in. This is similar to the Diablo 4 Secret of the Spring quest.
Doing so rewards you with a Heretic’s Cache chest, with gold, random gear, and some XP.
How to get past the red wall in Diablo 4 Reject the Mother quest
If you’ve started the Diablo 4 quest and are headed for the shrine, you might hit a red wall blocking your path across a bridge. The first thing to do is to complete Act 3 – Whittling Sanity in the main campaign. As the third quest in Act 3, you should be level 15-20 to tackle it. In most cases, this will remove the wall and let you through.
If that doesn’t solve the issue or you’ve progressed further into the story and the wall remains up and the path blocked, we’ve got some bad news. Unfortunately, this is also a known bug that has affected quite a few players. From what we understand, there’s currently no fix or workaround. We expect Blizzard to weave in a fix in one of the many updates heading to the game, but for now, there’s nothing to do but sit tight.
