Endgame players have been spotting the Diablo 4 Holy Chalice quest bug at an alarming rate. It seems to be affecting a good portion of the player base. Considering the sheer breadth of Diablo 4 and the things you can do in Sanctuary, it’s not surprising that a few inoffensive bugs have surfaced.

Activision Blizzard’s new instalment in the series features intense combat across Sanctuary’s gallery of impressive sights. This bug stops your progress in a couple of quests. This means that you’ll have to look for other routes to level up. If you’re looking to hone your skills against Lilith’s bosses and mobs in the meantime, here are our Diablo 4 best Sorcerer build and Diablo 4 best Rogue build guides.

How to fix the Holy Chalice bug in Diablo 4

You can reportedly fix the Holy Chalice bug by teleporting to Kyovashad, and/or completing a quest offered by an NPC next to the Kyovashad Waypoint.

Considering the fact that this bug prevents you from finishing the aforementioned quests, you should try to avoid the bug by completing all three Sister Octavia quests on the same World Tier. These are the affected quests:

  • Malady of the Soul
  • Depths of Despair
  • Faith In Blood

If you’ve already fumbled and switched World Tiers between these quests, there’s an ongoing discussion on the community forums to provide more context.

What is the Diablo 4 Holy Chalice bug?

The Holy Chalice bug in Diablo 4 occurs when you do parts of Sister Octavia’s quest line across multiple World Tier difficulties. For some players, the item keeps respawning near the outskirts of Kyovashad in the Fractured Peaks. Others are unable to find it in their inventory entirely.

This bug results in the Sister Octavia questline remaining incomplete as you need the item to finish an exorcism. I encountered the bug when I cleared the Cathedral of Light, the Capstone Dungeon that lets you progress to World Tier 3, however it’s not clear what is the cause of the Holy Chalice bug.

If these solutions don’t work, you’ll have to wait for official bug fixes from Activision and Blizzard Entertainment. Patches from Blizzard should resolve the issue of adding the Holy Chalice item to the player’s inventory across different World Tiers. Until then, work your way through other game world side-quests. Diablo 4 Dungeons and Strongholds are great options for a shot at legendary gear.
