Are you looking for how to summon and defeat the Echo of Duriel in Diablo 4? Fighting one of the hardest bosses is challenging enough on its own, let alone knowing where to find him.

This new boss is the most powerful and dangerous of the endgame bosses that were added in with Season 2. The Echo of Duriel, also known as Uber Duriel, is a disgusting poisonous beast who has some amazing loot you can earn. We’re here to show you how to summon him, and how you can beat him.

Diablo 4 How to get Shards of Agony and Mucus Slick Eggs

Duriel’s special materials you’ll need to summon him are called the Shards of Agony and Mucus Slick Eggs. Shards of Agony only come from defeating another one of the endgame bosses, Grigoire the Galvanic Saint. You’ll need Living Steel to summon him, and then you can take him on to get the shards. Mucus Slick Eggs, on the other hand, come from defeating the Echo of Varshan, who you can find at the Malignant Burrow.

Be aware that Grigoire and Varshan will only drop the shards on World Tier 4: Torment. Don’t fight them on Tier 3: Nightmare if you’re trying to gather them! They will each drop one upon defeat. You need two Shards of Agony and two Mucus Slick Eggs to summon Duriel. That means a total of four boss fights to get enough to fight the boss.

Friends don’t share

If you’re fighting Grigoire the Galvanic Saint and Echo of Varshan with friends, they will not pick up the Shards of Agony or Mucus Slick Eggs too. Only the player who summons the boss will earn them.

Uber Duriel can be found in the Gaping Crevasse Dungeon in the southern part of Kehjistan. This is a level 100 Lair. You can find it all the way at the bottom of the Southern Expanse. Use the Gea Kul waypoint to travel there quickly.

Diablo 4 How to summon Uber Duriel

Once you’ve made it to the Gaping Crevasse, head inside the Lair and look for the Pestilent Altar. This is where you’ll use your Mucus Slick Eggs and Shards of Agony to summon Duriel himself. There will be enemies present in the crevasse, who are also level 100 like Duriel, but you don’t need to fight them if you don’t want to. Simply run past them to get to the altar. Interact with the Pestilent Altar and sacrifice your materials to begin the boss fight.

Diablo 4 How to beat Uber Duriel

Beating Duriel is no small task. He is a level 100 boss, and the hardest of all the new endgame bosses introduced with Season 2. The King of Maggots will put up quite a fight, so be ready for a tough battle.

Preparation is a big part of the Duriel fight. You are going to want your Poison resistance up since these are the elemental attacks he’ll be throwing at you. You can socket Emeralds to gear to increase your resistance. I’ve found that stocking up on Elixirs of Poison Resistance helps, too.

The best way to maximize damage to Uber Duriel while minimizing damage to you is to stick behind him. His massive pincers can do a lot of damage if you aren’t careful, and the best way to avoid them is to be at his back.

He also has attacks where he charges forward to hit you. You can dodge away from these, but if you don’t you’ll take a lot of damage. However, you can deal a lot of damage with melee attacks and sticking close to him. Watch out for his charging attack while you’re next to him, and move out of the way when he goes for it.

If you’re not feeling confident, you can party up with other players to beat him. He’s very tough, and also he’s just gross.

Diablo 4 Uber Duriel Boss Rewards and Loot Table
