Wondering if there is auto salvage available in Diablo 4? You’re not alone. Many players want to know if they are able to immediately salvage gear they don’t want in-game.

Not all loot in Diablo 4 is equal. While some items are highly coveted for being Unique items, others are simply pieces of gear you don’t need. Whether you’ve been farming dungeons for loot and fighting through Helltides, you’ll end up with gear you just want to salvage. Does Diablo 4 have an auto salvage feature?

Is there auto salvage in Diablo 4?

Yes, as of the 1.2.0 patch update for the game release on October 17 with Season 2, there is an auto salvage feature. However, it works as an automatic feature rather than pressing a button yourself. Here is how the system works:

  • World Tiers I and II: Unchanged.
  • World Tier III: Only Legendary, Unique, Uber Unique, and Sacred Rare items will drop. Players will instead receive additional crafting resources.
  • World Tier IV: Only Legendary, Unique, Uber Unique, and Ancestral Rares. Players will instead receive additional crafting resources.

So, instead of receiving weapons or armor that you would consider junk on higher world tiers, you now just receive crafting resources instead. You don’t need to turn auto salvage on in the settings or press any buttons while looking at your inventory.

Unfortunately, it seems players are encountering some bugs with this and are receiving drops from loot tiers they shouldn’t be. More patches will be released in the future by Blizzard, hopefully fixing this issue.

Can you turn off auto salvage in Diablo 4?

There is no way to turn this feature off. Once you get to World Tier Nightmare and Torment, you will only be receiving the higher tiers of loot as drops. Drops that would have been lower tier will now just drop as materials.

While this is good news that you no longer have to go to the Blacksmith each time you want materials from salvaging, some players used these items to earn gold quickly instead. Because you will no longer receive these lower-tier items, it might be harder to build up your wallet as quickly if this was the method you used.

However, many fans have been asking for an auto salvage feature to be implemented since the game was released. Auto salvaging will make accumulating materials much quicker and easier. It will also mean less time wasted. Plus, it’s only on the highest two world tiers. I can’t tell you how much time I salvaging gear before that was nearly useless, so this feature is a big positive.
