Deathloop’s arrival on Xbox Series consoles doesn’t just mean millions more will be able to sample Arkane’s time-looping immersive sim, it also ushers in a brand new update, Goldenloop, chock full of new content, including the new Fugue slab.

Here’s how to get the Fugue slab in Deathloop.

The Fugue slab is located in Karl’s Bay but can only be accessed when visiting the Deathloop level during the afternoon. As soon as you load in, keep right, head through the door out of the tunnels and into Karl’s Bay proper. From there, stick right, hugging the coastline.

Keep an eye on the large stone wall on your left until you come to an opening. There’s an open door a little further in, which is usually closed should you visit at any other time of the day. It leads to an underground garbage disposal facility.

Head inside, then head either left or right – both paths lead to the same place. Note the shuttered room towards the back of the facility. The Fugue slab and custodian of said slab, The Garbage Collector (a new addition to Deathloop and one that’ll give you some trouble before you pry the new ability from his cold, dead hands), are inside.

Taking Out The Garbage Collector

Marching straight to the shuttered doors will trigger a set of traps that won’t just harm Colt but will alert the Collector to your presence. It’s best to avoid going in guns blazing. Between the two doors leading into the room, a large crack in the wall offers a window into the room containing the Fugue slab.

Peer in, look left and locate the red button next to the door. Shooting the button opens the shutter and conveniently coaxes the Collector into disabling the traps by walking into them.

From there, it’s simply a case of taking out the Collector. Easier said than done as he has one mighty health bar and chunky armor to keep him out of harm’s way. We recommend a stealthy approach. Using the shift slab to teleport behind him, then quietly taking him out is your best bet.

A few enemies will charge in once the Collector’s taken care of, so be wary of them. With the area cleared of Eternalists, pick up the Fugue slab.

What Does the Deathloop Fugue Slab Do?

In Deathloop, the Fugue slab grants the Fugue ability when equipped.

As per the in-game description, Fugue is a projectile that sends targets into ‘a temporary state of intoxication. Like they’re walking out of a Dorsey Manor shindig.’ In other words, it turns Eternalists into drunk, lumbering oafs. Dizzy, blind, and temporarily deaf, they’re unable to wield a weapon or cause Colt any trouble. Whether you want to make a swift exit or enjoy some easy kills, the Fugue Slab should make things easier.

Identical to the other abilities in Deathloop, there are four Fugue slab upgrades you can pick up, two of which can be equipped at any one time. You’ll need to take out the Garbage Collector or kill a Julianna player using the slab several times to get them all. Here are the four upgrades:

  • Coda – Fugue affects targets for a longer period of time
  • Earworm – Chuck a Fugue ‘mine’ on a surface
  • Discord – Target becomes hostile toward ally Eternalits
  • Syncopation – On target’s death, Fugue spreads to nearby enemies

That’s a wrap on how to get the Fugue slab in Deathloop. Have fun out there.
