What is the Crash Team Rumble release date? The latest attempt at making a fun party game set in the Crash Bandicoot world is a different take than we have seen in the past. Jumping into the arena with your favorite character from the cast and fighting to get your hands on Wumpa Fruit will be at the forefront of your time playing the game. Here’s a breakdown of all the Crash Team Rumble details we have so far.

Crash Team Rumble release date

Crash Team Rumble is set to release at the beginning of the summer season on June 20, 2023. Since the game’s announcement at The Game Awards, marketing has been rather quiet, but the below pre-order trailer confirms that date is still the current plan.

Crash Team Rumble closed beta date

The Crash Team Rumble closed beta will occur between April 20-24, 2023. The only way to access this playtest is to pre-order the game. When you make your payment, you should receive a code to input into your chosen platform’s store, where you can download the game’s beta version and give it a run throughout that weekend.

Will Crash Team Rumble be on Xbox Game Pass?

With the talk of Xbox acquiring Activision Blizzard still ongoing, there is no indication of Crash Team Rumble being included in Game Pass, at least at launch. Of course, that kind of announcement could be made before release, but it has not been as of this writing.

Crash Team Rumble gameplay

Crash Team Rumble’s gameplay is built on quick 4v4 arena battles where the goal is to gather enough Wumpa Fruit to fill up your meter faster than the opponent. After you grab Wumpas, you bring them back to your team’s base to deposit them in a bank. As you work to gather them, you can step on pads positioned around the area to gain special abilities that work to give you an edge when attacking your enemies.

Crash Team Rumble playable characters

With each match in Crash Team Rumble being a 4v4 affair, there are quite a few notable characters from past games you can play as. Here are the ones we know about so far:

  • Crash Bandicoot
  • Coco Bandicoot
  • Tawna
  • Dr. N. Cortex
  • Dr. N. Brio
  • Dr. N. Tropy
  • Dingodile
  • CatBat

It is unknown if additional characters like Tiny Tiger or other franchise staples will be added later.

Crash Team Rumble maps

So far, three map flythroughs have been shown in Crash Team Rumble.

Tiki Towers is filled with various traps that you would see in a traditional Crash game. From bounce pads to flung molten rocks and Uka Uka calling in meteor strikes, you will need to watch your step in this arena.

Calamity Canyon is a desert area that has some industrial mechanics to it. You can go on a pad to get put into a spikey rolling death cage or call in Nitrous Oxide, which will follow enemies with a laser attack.

Just Beachy takes place in a tropical alcove. You can jump on a pad to get put into a beach ball to chase down the opposing team, and it appears the central pad rewards you with a lot of Wumpas.

Crash Team Rumble trailer

Alongside the above flythroughs and pre-order trailer, the only footage we have of Crash Team Rumble is in the announcement trailer below.

Will Crash Team Rumble have a battle pass?

Yes, Crash Team Rumble has a seasonal battle pass system that players can purchase. The game is not free-to-play, so this is in addition to the normal retail price, except for the first season, which is automatically unlocked for all players. If you purchase the Deluxe Edition of the game, you will get the first two season battle passes automatically unlocked.

Does Crash Team Rumble have crossplay?

Yes, crossplay is implemented and Crash Team Rumble supports play with friends across platforms.

Is Crash Team Rumble online only?

According to the game’s FAQ page, Crash Team Rumble needs online access to download and play multiplayer, but it doesn’t say anything about including an offline mode where you can play against bots. Simply put, we don’t know as of this writing, but it seems there is no split-screen for local multiplayer.
